Another full month of pink in the NFL?

Here's a novel idea...lets stop relying on sporting events to make people aware of special causes.

If they really want to educate football fans about anything just put it on a beer can. Make the 'super cold' bars and the mountains on the cans turn pink or something. People seem to be better informed about the temperature of their beers than what's going on in the world.

Here's a novel idea...lets stop relying on sporting events to make people aware of special causes. freaking out because a sports league decides to make a temporary, league-wide change to its uniforms.

Guys, if you care as much about this as some of you are purporting, you (i) really should reconsider whether you're an actual fan of football as a sport, or more one of football jerseys and uniforms, (ii) should re-evaluate your level of focus on such things, and (iii) need to re-channel that level of interest in something that actually has, you know, what's the word... oh. Yeah. IMPORTANCE.

If guys put as much interest and enthusiasm into projects that would be beneficial to people instead of stuff like this - say, like trying to work toward eliminating world hunger or making sure everyone had proper health care services available to them - we'd be in a far better position than we are now... andperhaps capable of getting some blood pressure meds that would help when you saw pink on an NFL uniform.

um...this is a uniform board. Nobody is "freaking out"...we are discussing a non sensical decision to overuse the color pink amongst the teams of a major sport's league.

Maybe if you put more "interest and enthusiasm into projects that would be beneficial to people" instead of stuff like perusing through internet community boards then maybe the world would be much better where YOU live.

just a thought, before you start throwing stones champ.

I think it's a bit much, and I don't like how the gloves and cleats clash.

But I don't think it's wrong for a company to make money. If they're selling things to people who like the look and want some of the profits to go to the organization, so what? The NFL isn't mandating fans to buy merchandise. In order to make money, the NFL has to retain an image. When 'wardrobe malfunction' happened, they promptly booked older acts to protect their image. Part of having a good image is to donate to charities, or sell things and give the proceeds to charity. I fail to see why it's worse than not donating any proceeds to any charity.

There is a lot of outrage over pink gloves or cleats, yet so many people love Nike Pro Combat trashing a school's color scheme. Weird.

Demonstrate that the same posters are supporting one and pilloring the other, and you'd have a point. Until then, all you've proven is that this is a diverse community with varied opinions on all topics.

judging by your post count I probably don't...hey...no hard feelings. I just rattled off the first dumb thing that came to my mind. May bad. lets move on and keep the peace.

Try as I might, I can't read this as anything but self-important sanctimonious piffle.

There is indeed a fair share of minutiae analysis here, often to the point of ridiculousness, but to frequent a board specifically set up for such discussions, and author over 10,000 posts, then suggest those engaged in the discussions need to instead do something of "importance" is the height of stinking blind hypocrisy.

If you are implying that you are out doing good in your corner of the world, WHILE having over 10000 posts dedicated to a distraction of lacking importance, that perhaps "if you only knew..." could apply to your perception of what the rest of us do with our lives while not making our usually-fewer posts...we all need time for trivial things (as you an apparent do-gooder with a lot of posts must recognize). Some people watch American Idol. Others discuss sports logos and uniforms.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

I like it.

That's because black/silver/pink is a killer color combination.

It's the best combination there is, the best combination there was, and the best combination there ever will be.

Especially when it's executed excellently.

Personally, I think they should just place the logo on the uniforms for the month and be done with it (sRGB version):

Agreed.

That's a PERFECT compromise. I like that in other sports as well, baseball does this on occasion and it looks great. It's subtle but still gets the point across well. This dressing up players like Barbie Dolls for a third of the season has got to stop. I'm not trying to be overly and ridiculously passionate about it or, but it just looks like trash and cheapens the whole "strong branding" idea that the NFL has been so apt to throw around. I mean really, they won't allow a team to wear an alt more than twice a year for fear it will take away from their brand, but they force teams to wear pink accessories for the whole first month? Seems pretty hypocritical to me.

it's all fun and games until 10-20 years down the line, when all the historical footage of milestones and amazing plays are smattered with hot pink. that'll be an annoying conversation to have with your grandkids.
