NFL Uniforms 2011 (Week 2)

I don't think the stormtrooper look would work for the Bolts. I just wish the Chargers still had yellow pants so they could go powder blue-on-yellow. That combo is still the quintessential Chargers look.

I never liked their yellow pants with their 60s / early 70s collegiate or powder blue jerseys .... I always liked the white pants better on them.

What I did like was their yellow pants from the very early 80s when they'd wear their Royal blue jerseys, which they didn't wear often. The usually wore white w/ yellow pants at home back then, like this game in SD against the Bills.

Why they removed the lightning bolts from the pants was a really dumb move, that's their trademark. T'was taken at the old Cleveland 'Mistake on the Lake'

If you look at the years the photos were taken, it appears as if the lightning bolt replaced the pant stripes, not the other way around.

If I'm not mistaken, the lightning bolt on the pants made its debut around 1979. And yes, it replaced the pant stripes before the bolt was later replaced somewhere in the late 80s/early 90s.

The years on those photos are probably off, too. Chargers weren't wearing the full-striped pants in '82.

Jets Put on Their Titans Togs for Game vs. Jaguars

...

The Green & White wore their Titans unis seven times from 2007-09, going 1-1, 2-0 and 2-1 respectively for a 4-1 mark in the blue jersey/gold pants/blue helmet ensemble.

I don't think Eric Allen is very good at math.

They wore the white version of the Titan uniforms twice in '09 I believe, thus Eric Allen would be correct in saying that.

1-1, 2-0, 2-1 = 5-2, not 4-1. He's correct in the actual blue jersey record, but he included the white jerseys in the count for the 2009 season. I guess it's a bit confusing how he combined the two facts together

Haha... tricky. Good catch sir.

The only thing missing is Mark's hot dog :)

Although he was in the Titans white away jerseys that day in Oakland, they gave the Raiders a shellacking that day.

I'd would so like to see them wear the 1963 set in the Kelly Green with the Jet plane on it. The Titan ones are okay, but the '63 set would be a great set to see. Even the '64s were cool with the current logo inverted, and in Kelly Green (pointed as it should be, not oval) and on a 45° angle.

I want the '63 set as well. At the stadium you see more people wearing gear with the old '63 airplane on it than Titans stuff. I don't get the point of wearing the Titans stuff again...it isn't a cash grab this time, they don't even sell them anymore.

Plus the updated version of the '63 plane is way better:

Not a fan of these uniforms. It looks ridiculous when the entire stadium is littered with green and yet the home team is wearing blue and vomit colored uniforms.

Jets Put on Their Titans Togs for Game vs. Jaguars

Posted by Eric Allen on September 13, 2011 ? 3:42 pm

The Jets rested their Titans of New York uniforms last season, but they?ll take the classic blue jerseys and gold pants off the hangers for Sunday?s Week 2 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars at MetLife Stadium.

The Green & White wore their Titans unis seven times from 2007-09, going 1-1, 2-0 and 2-1 respectively for a 4-1 mark in the blue jersey/gold pants/blue helmet ensemble. The Jets also split a pair of games while wearing white Titans vintage road jerseys back in 2009. In addition to the good record in blue Titans jerseys, the Jets have traditionally piled up the points in the dark unis, averaging 35 points a contest.

Before the franchise changed its name to the Jets, the Titans finished 7-7 in both 1960 and ?61 under head coach Sammy Baugh. That was good for second and then third place in the AFL?s Eastern Division. Their last year, 1962, wasn?t as successful as they dropped to 5-9 in their only campaign with Clyde ?Bulldog? Turner at the helm.

Rex Ryan has always been a fan of the Titans gear and is frequently seen here at the facility representing the throwback look. This is scheduled to be the only time the Jets go with their vintage look in 2011 and they?ll do it before the home faithful before embarking on a three-game road swing to Oakland, Baltimore and New England.

Pretty disappointed when I read this earlier in the week. I was really hoping those were gone for good. These have gotta be the most useless, worthless throwbacks in all of football. Bad call, Rex.

Those Bills home unis look amazing. I wasn't so sure at first, but seeing them in action sells it for me. Way to go, Buffalo.

It's going to take me a while to get used to the Bills in white helmets. Sure, they wore white helmets a good portion of their history, but the red helmets make me think of some of the best Bills teams. They should have returned to the Jim Kelly look.

Same here. When I saw them during the debut at Rich Stadium, I was underwhelmed. They were definitely an upgrade but they didn't look like anything special. Seeing them on the field today made all the difference. They look great. I'm still not sure about the road look but the home unis are perfect.

I don't know about perfect, but truth is, in my head the every team could use a few tweaks to look better. Still, the Bills look great. And not just because of what they used to wear. They actually just look really really good at home now. They look so good in fact, they could make Sam Adams returning a pick for a TD look good.

Speaking of tweaks though, I must be the only one who doesn't completely hate the new Jags look. They're a few tweaks from looking really solid IMO. Add the crawling Jag to the sleeves, maybe throw some gold outlines on the numbers, make the pants shiny and if possible give them the same shine the helmets have and they're a great looking set IMO.

The hell? Is that Helvetica on the Dolphins' jerseys?

If not, it's a close cousin. That was the nameplate font they used for a good chunk of the Marino era - possibly all the way from when they added the sleeve logo in the mid-'80s to when they made the switch from screenprinted to tackle-twill in '95 or so.
