IceCap Posted September 28, 2011 Share Posted September 28, 2011 The Helvetica adds to the charm of the uniform, actually. New York-based teams shouldn't try to play off imagery from their nickname. Emphasizing the city name is the way to go. When you play in New York City it just makes sense. Helvetica helps drive that home. New York, in clear bold lettering, is the focus of the identity, as it should be. The subway theme further emphasizes that. A lot of the development in the beginning actually focused on using Helvetica and other subway-inspired imagery. It was killed very early in the process, though.
