Victor Martinez out for 2012 with torn ACL. Tigers need Cespedes now.

I wouldn't sign Cespedes with the asking price I'm hearing.

That, and just about every highlight I've seen is him hitting a ground ball.

I was pretty shocked to hear that Braun is going to accept the NL MVP award on Saturday.....even more shocked to hear that he is going to make a speech!!! How much of what he says do you think will be scripted?

Maybe the umpires will let him bring his walker to the mound.

I guess the longer he waits the "better" (or larger) the market for his services? Not sure.

Yeah, and the longer everyone has to wait to sign a 1B. Prince sets the bar, and everyone slots from there (Pena, Kotchman, etc.)

Is Geritol and Viagra on the banned PED list?

"...Moyer misses wide for ball 3. Gets the sign from his catcher...checks the runner at first...and....and Moyer has fallen asleep."

Further evidence that left-handed pitchers can pitch literally forever. Makes me wish I had a speck of talent...I'd be set for life! :cursing:

Just curious - why is this? I sort of get left-handed relief specialists, but are left handed starters really that rare and valuable that they can pitch forever?

Lefties who can throw straight cheese like say, Lester, are rare. Moyer gets the job done, but I wouldn't use rare to describe his current skillset.

Why is that? Why do left handers develop as junkballers and not hard fireballers like a lot of right handers?

Idk, it's sort of like how someone will be a "crafty lefty". You never hear the adjective "crafty" regarding a right hander.

And then there is the story of Roberto Hernandez Heredia EERRR Fausto Carmona.

Fausto Carmona isn't Fausto Carmona. His real name is Roberto Hernandez Heredia, said Dominican Republic police.

Dominican Republic police also report that Carmona is not 28, but in fact 31-years-old.

Should be pretty used to these stories. At least now we know why he stopped progressing at 23. Don't know too many players that peaked when they were 23 but I can name a bunch that did at 26.

At this point though I feel like its on the team to try and find out what a guy's actual age is. If you really want to believe your signing some 16 or 17 year old phenom and then you come to later find out he was 21 or so at the time, that's on you.

Crafty righties are classified as finesse pitchers.
