dbadefense1990
Even as someone of part hispanic descent, I find the Latin Nights "tribute" terribly gimmicky. I don't feel that honored by a team lazily slapping "El" or "Los" on thier jersey. It's like the smart-@$$ in Spanish class who answers every test question with "ketchupo" or "el teacher", etc.My cousin had a HS spanish teacher who gave out "quizzitos" every Tuesday after lunch. Foxxtrot44
Pop quiz: which simpsons character is holding those bottles? It's Mr Burns, of course...this was shortly after searching for the "Burns-O's" in the cereal aisle (He settled on Count Chocula, deciding it was a close facsimile to himself). loogodude90
Here's another point to add on that (albeit a baseball one). In MLB there's a team called the Padres, which is a Spanish word that literally translates to "Fathers." Yet we don't make the Padres have their wordmark display "Fathers." TheOldRoman
Actually, it would be amuing to me if the Angels did one of these nights and slapped "Los Angeles" across the front. Another loophole to avoid using "Anaheim" or "of Anaheim"?Now there's a thought. Maybe they could get away with doing Hispanic heritage day for every road game. Fits so much better.
