rams80
Can the defense lawyer be disbarred as part of the sentencing? That would be wonderful. Viola73
Uh oh,Jerry Sandusky's defense bolstered by tape establishing police led an accuser's statement:http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--jerry-sandusky-trial-defense-testify-tape-victim-police.htmlNow this has to do soley with Victim #4 but the judge even weighed in on this as well:"The defense was bolstered by a comment from Judge Cleland. In open court, with the jury seated and listening, the two sides argued to the judge how much of the tape should be allowed to play. That's when Cleland first said, "The issue is whether or not seeds were planted by the officer."He later said the issue was actually whether the officers' testimony may not have been accurate when they said they never discussed specifics with witnesses. He used that reasoning to rule the prosecution couldn't play more of the tape."ALSODefense attorney Joe Amendola said he wanted to call Sara Ganim (Harrisburg Patriot News who won a Pulitzer Prize for her coverage of the scandal) to the stand to verify a March 31, 2011, story about Sandusky being investigated by a grand jury, whose work is supposed to be secret. He also wanted to go over alleged emails between Ganim and the mother of Victim 6."Essentially the email said, 'I'm suggesting you contact a certain investigator if you want your case to go forward,' " Amendola said. "There are a lot of forces at work pushing this [investigation of Sandusky] forward."The matter is expected to be resolved prior to the 9 a.m. start to court Wednesday. All in all the outcome is whatever it will be, but after all is said and done the ENTIRE system (police, courts, government) in Pennsylvania is going to have to take a very long look in the mirror and make changes. CS85
There's so much deep-rooted money and nastiness webbed throughout that community. Whether or not Sandusky is convicted, the fact that their image has been so damaged (and thus the incoming moneys substantially reduced) should organically reduce the corruption, albeit potentially temporarily. If you're playing at home, circle gets the square.Turns out you can't pick Dottie Sandusky to block.Thing is that the adopted son went to the prosecution AFTER the trial started. This could have been an attempt for a mistrial if any jury member heard of the news that he went to the prosecution. If he adopted son was originally part of the prosecution list of witnesses, then Dottie Sandusky would have never took the stand as she would have "spousal privilege". CS85
Part of the reason his adopted son didn't get involved was that he's the...nephew, I want to say, of another local Pennsylvania DA. Gothamite
Somewhere in heaven Joe Pa is very happy. I think you're aiming a bit too far north there. Paterno could have stopped Sandusky years ago if he cared more about protecting kids than protecting his own program. If he is indeed happy now, it's because Pennsylvania law has a comically low bar for "I did the absolute legal minimum". The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
