Before sentencing, I hope he holds a press conference, the likes of which Pennsylvania hasn't seen in about 25 years.

I'll chip in for the new curtains and upholstery...

Isn't that what the Filter song "Nice Shot" is about?

I think that's about Cobain, actually.

Nope, did research. Had nothing to do with Cobain. All Budd. In fact, these lyrics screams Budd.

"You'd fight and you were right

But they were just too strong

They'd stick it in your face

And let you smell what they consider wrong"

I just went to Wikipedia for that...wow.

I'm surprised I'd never heard of that, especially having lived in Pennsylvania for four years. You'd think someone would've referenced it at some point.

If you do a little digging on the internet, you can even find the video of him offing himself. I wouldn't recommend it though, as it's pretty brutal.

It's pretty much exactly what you'd think it'd be. A weird guy surrounded by cameras quietly insisting everyone stay back so they don't get hurt, then right before they rush him he puts the gun in his mouth and pulls the trigger. Pretty horrific stuff.

Indeed. I'd pretty much forgotten that entire incident so, like any red-blooded American gawker, I went and watched the video. Now I sort of wish I hadn't. I used to think that Hollywood "overdoes it" when they portray something like a person blowing their own brains out. Turns out that Hollywood really undersells it.

In an effort to take the focus off Bud Dwyer, yesterday another child molestation-related trial in Pennsylvania rendered a verdict which may have an impact on the future trials of Curley, Schultz, and possibly Spanier (if any suit is brought against him).

Yesterday, a jury convicted a Philiadelphia Monsignor, who was an aide to the late Cardinal Anthony J. Bevilacqua, Archbishop of Philadelphia (1988-2003), on charges of child endangerment stemming from the sexual abuse scandal within the US Catholic Church. Msgr. William Lynn was acquitted on two counts: Conspiracy and another count of child endangerment.

Ever since I watched the Nick Berg video I've stayed away from any of those, in fact I actively avoid them. I just don't need to see it.

Stuff like the Budd Dwyer snuff tape is what you need in order to become a true battle-hardened internet warrior.

I watched it in journalism 101 (Introduction to Newspaper Reporting) in college. My professor thought we needed to toughen up if we were going to report on city hall committee meetings and Walgreens openings.

It's graphic to even type in Budd Dwyer into Google.

The first page has a thumbnail of the suicide video, after he had already pulled the trigger. Blood emanating from a fatally fractured head - I think I may have actually watched the video a long time ago, since I faintly recall having seen the part where he handed out the three envelopes. But I haven't seen it in a long time, and I've actually become slightly squeamish as time as gone on, so I'm not about to watch it now. It's one thing to watch the Dale Earnhardt crash (which was obviously tragic in its own ways), it's another thing to watch an actual human blow their brains out, leading to instantaneous death. Doesn't jive that well.

Also - there was a three second music video (Collateral Damage, I think?) that had like 60 videos thrown together into it - Dwyer's pulling the trigger is included in it.

I can watch Clint Malarchuk get his jugular sliced open. At least (fortunately) that didn't kill him, although he nearly killed himself about 15 years afterwards. He seems fine now. Besides, watch

, and you get to hear a classic Buick jingle in the background!

The great American road belongs to Buick, whatever happened to great jingles?

Plus, the Philadelphia Archdiocese is "Glendale, AZ" broke, cutting 45 jobs, merging offices/ministries, and looking at other financial savings. The same issues could occur at Penn State, even with insurance and a large endowment.

Meanwhile, members here would rather post about if they have or have not seen a recorded suicide from 1987. That's not good.

Honestly, if you would rather post about a suicide of a man who may or may mot have been guilty of what he was charged with, then start a thread in The Lounge and even bring up the documentary about him and his case.
