I for one love this new alt. dunno why, but I like how its different from the current set but still stays with the same theme. It's kind of unnecessary, but that's alright with me. Actually, minus the red alt, the Braves are the best looking team in the league IMO. I even love the Navy alt. The only change I would make is to have the all navy alt cap be used exclusively with the navy jersey.

Wow, that makes this jersey much worse. They will now be wearing alternate jerseys for half of all home games? Terrible. The new jersey is okay in its own right, but not better than the regular home or distinctive enough to warrant being worn. On top of that, the Braves wear the navy crap more often than not on the road. The Braves will wear what they should wear less than half the time this season. That is sad.

That pisses me off so much that they're moving the Reds to Friday. There's a damn good reason we don't wear the Hank-era style anymore. The tomahawk underlining the script is one of the biggest parts of our brand, so they're going to take that away and put some awkwardly placed numbers?!?! Well at least the patch is decent. Can't lie, I'll prob end up buying the patch and painting it on my wall.

Just looked at the schedule. The Braves don't play their first home game until 4/13 which is about a week or so after the season starts. That is a Friday, which means they'll be wearing the red jerseys. The weekend means that they'll be wearing the fauxbacks, which means they won't even wear their regular home unis for the first home series of the year.

Yeah, I like these unis, but not THAT much. You know someone is goofing up when the :censored:ing Braves of all teams have too many uniforms. Of course, this could all be solved if they just dump those red jerseys into a flame-lit trash can. ^_^

EDIT: I guess this would be my ideal set: Primary Home -> Primary Road (w/ red-brim caps) -> Red Road Alternate (I'd live with the red alternate if that meant that the Braves would go back to wearing red-brim caps on the road & I didn't have to see it in Turner field. :P) -> Cream Home Sunday Alternate.

From the article on the Braves' website:

The plan is to continue wearing the red jerseys for all Friday night games in Atlanta. But the Braves will likely stick with their traditional white uniforms when they host the Brewers for their home opener on Friday, April 13.

Wow that's ridiculous. They won't wear their "primary" home set at all during weekend serieseses? Way to kill your (otherwise awesome) identity.

This uniform is packed full of the latest and greatest uniform cliches:

Cream base? CHECK!

Roundel on the sleeve? CHECK!

Generic, overused, fauxback appearance? CHECK!

These elements are all horribly forced, especially when the Braves have some fun and distinctive uniforms in their lengthy history.

Did white not exist in the past?

Well, I don't think we as a civilization achieved perfect bright white baseball uniforms till the polyester era. Of course, trying to apply that color to polyester without actually looking like flannel in any other way makes it a silly affectation.

I kinda have a problem with "Atlanta Braves 1876" on the patch. If it was just "Braves 1876", then cool, but the "Atlanta Braves" weren't founded in 1876. I know it's splitting hairs, and it's the same Braves franchise, but if you're going to put descriptors on it like that, then it's not accurate.

That is a great looking baseball uniform, head to toe.

I do hate 'set schedules' for alt wearing though, especially this Braves weekend setup.

It looks good, but not as good as their regular home jersey. And I much prefer set alt schedules to teams wearing them as they feel, which in the case of my White Sox turns into 70% of the time. The problem only comes when you have too many alts and wear them too frequently, such as the Braves or the Phillies wearing their throwbacks for EVERY day game.
