HP Pavilion looks kinda dumpy.Have you ever been to the HP Pavilion? It's a very nice arena, the opposite of "dumpy". Plus the Sharks wouldn't leave. They have a sweatheart deal at the Pavilion where they get a cut of all event revenues and full control of the place (that and they're owned by Silicon Valley interests anyway). But a new arena for the Warriors in SF would be a great idea. SF hasn't had it's own arena... well ever. The Cow Palace is actually in Daly City. And while it's big news, it's not a huge shock as you say. I mean they didn't make this their alternate logo on a whim... I can see why the Warriors would rather have a new arena in San Francisco than move down to San Jose, though Twitter: @RyanMcD29 // College Crosse: Where I write, chat, and infograph lacrosse

The Warriors would be dumb not to explore it. But the Sharks I think will be content to stay in SJ, they've got a sweatheart deal there that they'd never be able to replicate even in SF. bosrs1
Didn't the Warriors' arena get renovated not that long ago?Mid 90's. But it has underlying problems stemming from being a 1966 vintage stadium that the renovation didn't address. And it's location is not ideal in the modern world (ie: it's nowhere near downtown). pmoehrin
The only thing that made Oden over a Durant a bad call was the fact that the Blazers had to know of Oden's knee problems and if they didn't then they were dumb. So brash or stupid, take your pick. You don't take a chance on an injury prone player when you have a guy right behind him who's just as good. But it has underlying problems stemming from being a 1966 vintage stadium that the renovation didn't address. And it's location is not ideal in the modern world (ie: it's nowhere near downtown). While it from 1995-96 when the arena bowl was redone to include suites and clubs, footprint of the facility was not increased although it still seats more for basketball than Staples Center. In addition, the former ownership group (Chris Cohan) and the new ownership did not pay back rent for years and just got settled. The new ownership group is as short on cash as Cohan was and this CBA with no hard salary cap is their worst nightmare. GSW has has very loyal fans and sellouts with $hitty teams to watch for 41 games/year. They picked a co-owner of the Celtics (Lacob) over a person who definitely has the cash, Oracle founder Larry Ellison.
