I think we're all mindful enough of the word "chink" that we wouldn't think to use it in a caption of an Asian person. I dunno, maybe Sarah Silverman was their copy editor.

No kidding. And more than that, I can't see how "Chink in the Armor" would be appropriate in any context but to mock an Asian player. "Armor" in and of itself suggests defense, and no one is going to confuse the Knicks for a defensive lockdown team any time soon. Furthermore, a "chink" in an armor further suggests that a component of the Knicks defense isn't working well. Again, that would be bogus because Lin isn't on that team for his defense.

The only way that headline works with regards to the Knicks is as a knock on Lin's ethnicity, which is why ESPN should absolutely be embarrassed.

You're definitely reaching a little bit with that one, but whatever. Besides, weren't they talking him being extremely turnover prone for a primary ball handler?

Lintentional or not, the use of that word is Linsensitive to a sizable group of people, it's as simple as that. After hearing Bretos' slip on ESPNEWS, I would be Linsincere if I said I believe there was any malice behind his utterance of that word, and he damn sure shouldn't have gotten a 30 day time out over it, but there had to be some suspension. As for the Mobile site guy, that's Linexcusable...I'll give a guy the benefit of the doubt on live TV, but not when something that you write has to be checked and double checked before it's published.

People want to bitch about political correctness and all that, but we live in a hyper-critical and hyper-reactionary world...even among the "anti-PC" crowd. Like it or not, when the mere use of a word can be considered Lincendiary in a particular context, it's best to just skip the cutesy puns altogether.

This pretty much my take. I've had those chants at me growing up and it's not a pleasant thing to go through, but I think in this case, it's a bad attempt of trying to be more "creative" after all these Lin puns. We can debate on the appropriate punishment, but any punishment was warranted and I'm glad something happened.

I saw, I came, I left.

God the Kings suck.

Yeah they have a long way to go.

They have a bunch of good young talent but nobody you can realy build a team around. Probably the worst place you can be as a team because it means your building a team that can make a bunch of second round exits if all goes according to plan.

Only good news is they have a ton of cap space to sign a free agent but we all know why that won't happen and its not because guys don't want to play in Sacramento.

Sheesh, only Philadelphia fans would go ballistic on being called for a late foul in a close game. Let's face it, it didn't decide the outcome of the game, who cares?

I did not see the game, but I'll assume you mean it did decide the outcome.

Well, I'd say that Tyreke Evans is a guy who is probably solid enough to build around, but he makes a good amount of really dumb mistakes, such as tonight. But you're right. Unless this arena deal goes through, the Maloofs will do all they can to cripple this team on the court.

One player with over 50 points, another with over 40, and another with a triple-double for Oklahoma City. Forget the Heat. Forget the Lob City Clippers. Forget Jeremy Lin and the Knicks. There is no team that can win a best-of-seven series against the thunder.

I'm not that big on him. I think he's regressed since coming into the league and he's got a ways to go from being in that elite class of guards. I don't think he's ever going to be much more then an average defensive player so he needs to be averaging at least 23 a night in order to even be in the discussion for the league's best. Right now he's at 17, although scoring has been down across the board, so that 17 is more like 20 by this year's standards. Its still short though of where he needs to be.

He's also been in the league for three years now. If he hasn't really figured out what it takes to be a superstar by now I doubt he ever will. I know he's still only 22 as well, but most guys that go on to becomes superstars are already superstars by that age, especially for guards. The he's still young thing doesn't work that long as a rational excuse for why a guy isn't better in the NBA. He's probably as good as he's ever going to be right now.

And it will piss me off to no end to see Clayton Bennett hoisting the O'Brien Trophy in June.

I don't know, man. Let's not get too carried away. I'm not saying they can't win it, but lets wait until they win it to complain about them winning it. Remember all the lamenting over that Heat championship at this point last season...? Exactly.

If this team can't develop some consistency on defense, they could have problems. However, Durant and Westbrook are still puppies and have their best ahead of them...together. Besides, if it keeps LeBron from winning not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven, then y'all should love it. :P

Arena aside, why can't the Maloofs just sell the team? Are they just waitng to see what happens with the arena plan?

If I remember right, there's one guy (name escapes me) in Sacto with the money to take up the team.

Same reason the Wilpons and Frank McCourt won't/wouldn't sell their team. Its probably their only source of income left.

I don't have a clue as to how good or bad the Maloofs financial situation is but if their primary source of revenue was owning real estate in Vegas they're lucky if they're worth half as much as they were five years ago. I'd say they lost at least 2/3 of their money from the real estate bubble. They've already had to sell off their majority stake in their biggest property The Palms casino.

I definately think they are running the Kings as a cash cow. I don't think they have any real intentions of ever making that team better. All it comes down to is how long they can keep their heads above water and how much is the NBA willing to put up with from them.

The Thunder aren't winning jack until they add another scorer.

The brilliance of some of this Linsanity surfaced in this snippet from WSCR's Score Overnight show with Les Grobstein.

They'e got Kevin Durant, who is an elite level scorer, Russell Westbrook, a great scorer, and James Harden off the bench, who could easily drop 20 a night. Who else do they need?

Wow, overreaction much? You do realize that even with Durant and Westbrook's scoring frenzy, the Thunder still almost lost the game, right?

The Mavs dispatched pretty much the same Thunder team with relative ease in the playoffs last season. I don't see a reason why the Heat or Clippers couldn't beat them in the playoffs this season.
