Maybe not drugs, but if you think the NCAA is clean, well, you're wrong. Have you been awake the last year? I'd rather have a no-name special teams player get stopped by the FBI for dealing than have an ongoing scandal involving an old man raping innocent children. Not to mention the carousel of recruiting violations that comes around every year.

As for Hurd, am I the only one who finds this kind of funny? I mean, he added nothing to the team, and was dumb enough to get caught trying to deal an insane amount of drugs. That's fine with me, put him in jail and get over it. It'll be interesting to see what other names come out of this.

This is going to explode and become a huge scandal, and Gumshoe Goodell is going to have egg all over his face.

With a little bit of white powder too...

He was seeking five to ten kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana a week to distribute and was willing to pay $25,000 per kilo of cocaine and $450 per pound of marijuana. That adds up to as much as $700,000 of drugs each week.

He should be thrown in jail just for selling shwag for a premium...

Granted, I'm not a consumer, but that's about $28 per ounce for his "wholesale" price, and isn't a quarter-ounce at the user level, like, $50?. So he could mark-up about 600% and still be at fair-market level. What, do you buy in bulk at the CostCo Medical Dispensary or something?

Of course he's going to mark it up. He's in business! You don't contract to buy $700,000 of anything on a weekly basis without intending to sell it for more than what you paid.

I was mostly just trying to be funny, but yeah, $28 an ounce is a pretty low price.

The NFL has "been there...done that" in the 1990's.

Those CCSLC members born in 1990 and after, Google the name Darryl Henley! He even put a hit on the judge.

To recap his case:

October 1993

August 1994

Open of his 1995 trial His defense attorney was ESPN's Roger Cossack.

Because this doesn't happen in every other league or sport in the country....Right.

Not to this extent it doesn't. At least not in college football.

With the exception of certain Miami Hurricanes squads, I will give you cocaine. However, I would hazard that your average college football team goes through enough pot and booze in a month to kill an elephant-ridiculous substance happens, only the format is different.

I know all about Henley I was talking about him earlier just not on here. I dont have to bring up Henley, but when he did it. There was no Fox News, the Internet was Prodigy, AOL a few geeks sending Star Wars fan fiction and porn. Now we have Fox News, non stop coverage, twitter, facebook, 24/7 news everywhere and a commissioner who thinks he is Joe Friday. So it will explode also I dont recall a NFL laden client list.

I guess this means Sam Hurd is "Doubtful" this weekend....

For the game or to be jailed?

The charges were filed in a federal court in Dallas, and tomorrow is a hearing there. He had his initial court appearance in a Chicago federal court today.

If he bought his minimum for coke (5 kilos - $125,000) and the 1000 pounds of weed ($450,000), in two weeks he would have bought more drugs than his entire yearly salary. The amount of tax-free (albeit highly illegal) money he's making per two weeks must be incredible.

I know absolutely zero about coke prices, but if he sold the weed for 4x what he bought it for, he'd make $1.8 million per week. That's $93.6 million per year...

There's no way Hurd isn't getting out of jail time.
