Besides, Smith is a pass rush specialist -- he's supposed to have more sacks.

Fair enough, but 14.0 sacks is STILL ridiculous for a rookie, and he tied for fifth-most sacks in the league. And that's without starting a single game.

Von Miller was on pace for more than 14. He had 10.5 sacks in 11 games. Then he broke his thumb, missed an entire game, and only had one sack in the four games after -- the broken thumb and cast on his hand affected his ability to shed blockers. And with him being better in pass coverage and a contributor in run defense... I think he's the no-brain pick over Smith.
