For me at least, it's not so much as the white/white being "bad"(even though I generally don't like white/white looks) its that this

Buffalo+Bills+v+Washington+Redskins+6Pk0T6lCje9l.jpg

Is a much better better Away look In my opinion. Even though they are wearing it at home in this pic which I also hate when teams do

You know what would look better than these new uniforms?

broncos.jpg

This look would be awesome if the Broncos were a division II college football program.

rp_primary_8R0E1045.jpg

I'm not sure if I should take offence because we're a D2 school that uses that look or not....

Well, to me, that's just what a monochrome uniform always says... "small time program". Because, traditionally, a lot of high schools and small colleges would wear dark pants, home and road, to save on laundry costs. Grass stains take time and bleach, and pants get relatively dirtier than jerseys. A lot of the uniform traditions we take for granted have a fairly mundane origin. Gray road uniforms in baseball were also originally a laundry issue.

I know we're way past any of that being a concern today, and no team choosing a monochrome look today is giving any thought to the cost of cleaning, but in my eyes, the stigma remains.

The NFL is the highest level of football, and IMO the conventions of an NFL uniform should reflect that. There's a standard that's been set (and whatever you think, to me, that's NOT the same as "everyone should look alike"). Its the same in other sports... what I might consider to be a wonderful logo for a minor league baseball team would be an abomination on a major league team. A farm team of the New Jersey Devils can put a crazy cartoon devil playing hockey on their sweater... the New Jersey Devils themselves cannot. And an NFL team should not be confused with an Arena team, a high school team, or a second tier college school trying to attract hyperactive teenagers to their program.

I understand where your coming from but from our eyes its more of an intimidation factor. We normally wear grey pants with the red stripe for home games but for early season/big games we wear Black/Black/Black cuz down here in South Georgia its kinda hot on the last Saturday in August, like 98 degrees at kickoff plus a 90% humidity which kicks it up to like 120 degrees on the field hot. I don't think its a bad look though. Yeah, its one of the most used Nike templates, but its classy cuz it doesn't have any surplus piping and such. Plus Black is one of our main colors and we are known as the Black Swarm. If done correctly I think the Nike Horn Template can look good like we use it, and I expect the Broncos to be able to look outstanding in it on the field with the pads on and navy helmets. What's that old saying, "Imitation is the best form of flattery"? haha

Interesting! Yet your favorite uniform of the Vikings (Throwback) does not even match. Hell, the blues on the Cowboys color still don't match, and what about the Saints? If you are going to say that the NFL is the highest level of football and the NFL uniform should reflect that, then at least match your colors up! The mismatched colors of the Vikings old uniform are the main reason I love their new ones....they match and they signify quality.

Huh? We played that game in Toronto, the Bills were at home.

EDIT: No, you're right. I thought those were the new Bills unis, not the throwbacks. xD

Um, yeah, that's great. Except for two things:

One...I must of missed the part of my post where I raved about how great it is when teams wear "mis-matching colors"... nice attempt to move the goal posts, though.

And Two... my "favorite uniform of the Vikings" is not the throwback. I'd probably prefer it to the current set, but not by much... it has lots of problems, although it does a great job of doing what it is intended to do. That it, represent the uniform worn by the Vikings in the 70's. Not sure where you got the idea that it was my "favorite uniform of the Vikings"... maybe from the picture in my sig, which, for the record is what the Vikings wore in the 60's (which, believe it or not, is even before MY time). The 60's uniform is a better design than the 70's to me, but still not something I'd advocate bringing back, as is.

(And if you look at that picture really closely, you'll see that the painted helmet from the 60's matched the jersey pretty well, unlike the molded helmet of the 70's.

Guys, you might want to check your history. The white jersey - burgundy pants has been the Redskins home uniform for years. I'm not sure if it's still officially their home uniform, but it used to be, and for a very long time. There was a stretch (like back to the early 80's through very recently) where the burgundy jerseys were rarely seen.

Finally saw the Browns game day jerseys in person. They looked a lot nicer than in the pictures online. Besides the material, they really dont look much different from the Reebok jerseys.

This is true. Until 2010, the White over Burgundy look was used for almost all games. From 04-07 the all white was used a good amount though. All Burgundy made an appearance or two in 08 and 09. But all the Super Bowls, etc. came in the classic jersey above. 2010 and 2011 saw the burgundy jerseys with either white or gold pants be worn for all home games. It looks like that trend will continue, just without the gold pants.

Yes they did.

Had to post this one too just 'cause it's such a great representation of the '60s NFL...two great teams in two great unis and they didn't need no stinkin' Field Turf. :D

2371641.jpg

It also shows one of two things, either 1) some helmets didn't match each other (#22's looks darker) or 2) the angle of the helmet in the light made some look darker.

And what's up with those socks?

Nice pics... thanks for posting!

And, yeah, those socks were crazy, huh? (That's something else that probably doesn't need to return, much as I love me some striped socks) IIRC they only wore those for the first few years before switching to an all-purple sock.

Bland. Redskins fans are very proud of the team colors of Burgundy and Gold. Lets show them off, not whitewash our uniforms with a bland all-white set.

It's not a BAD look, but using the team's colors only as accents doesn't excite me.

Another shot of Manning.

ManningResized--nfl_large_580_1000.jpg

This does not look good at all.

I do not like the collar the stripes on the pants or the socks.

I meant I did not like that the socks are blue should be orange dominant & blue at the bottom if you are going with the Orange as primary but that is the least of their problems

Like this, I'd agree with you. But as soon as he puts that navy helmet on, the blue socks become absolutely necessary.

Yeah I agree the Navy helmet would make the socks at least look better.

I think once a year wouldnt be bad for the odd combos... such as the white/white and the white/gold, but the other 6 road games do the traditional burgundy pants... same thing as the burgundy/burgundy for a single game and then alternate between burgundy/gold and burgundy/white looks for home games. To me, it changes up the look, and gives everyone on here a chance to talk about what they are gonna show up in...

IMO, the Redskins white jersey burgandy pants is the best look in the whole league.

They wore those socks in '94 for the throwback year.
