NIKE NFL Uniforms

Raising awareness is nice and all, but all this month-long stuff, especially with bright pink all over everything just screams "Look at us! We're doing something! Pay attention to us!" It's for a nice cause, but it's so selfish in a way.

Bingo.

I like that they're doing things to raise awareness. I like it more that they're doing things to raise money.

But I really don't like that they're doing it in such a masturbatory, self-congratulatory (and self-promoting) way. The former does not necessitate the latter.

And even worse, I really hate that they've let these promotions leak into the uniforms. Not to mention the fact that they can never stop, lest the NFL reveal that they secretly root for cancer and against our troops.

Yeah, and that last bit is the issue with cutting these promotions down to a one-week thing: if they used to do this for a month, but are now only doing it for one week, clearly they care about cancer prevention much less than they did in the past.

Yep, we're past the point of no return. They're stuck doing it for the whole month no matter what since way too many people will raise a stink if they try to dial it back at all.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

Update? What more could they do without making it overly cartoony?

uh6oR.png

I think that's exactly what all of us pictured in our heads when he said 'overly cartoony.'

Pretty much. Sorry Lights Out, it's just a bit to "90s" in my opinion. The current buffalo is fine. It's not overly detailed but it's also instantly recognizable. I just don't see what adding unnecessary shading and definition would improve.

Oh no! It's October. And watching Monday Night Countdown, I just saw Dez Bryant wearing pink gloves in warm-ups. Prepare yourselves for the annual Pinkwashing.

This year a new and horrifying innovation has found it's way in: The Pink Sleeve (not a porn title, at least not that I'm aware of)

Really wish the Bills would bring back this helmet...

I know some people grew up in the 90's. But I was a child when Buffalo had these helmets on. I was 4 years old and that was in 1984. I grew attach to this one better than the 2002-2010 one. Plus the white helmet rocks as well. I always have a special heart for the white helmets as well.

I would prefer the Randall Cunningham set myself.

Either one would be a huge improvement over their current bland scheme. Would take them from near-bottom to the top tier of the league.

The Cunningham uniforms have the added benefit of black trim; the Eagles could continue to sell as much black stuff as they like without spoiling the on-field look in the process.

I expect a substantial overhaul in personnel after this season, perhaps we'll get lucky and a uniform overhaul will follow to mark the new era.

Another 1980's reference. When it comes to the Eagles change in 1985 from that horrible pole position UCLA/Washington Redskin stripe they had in their 1974-1984 look. This was much simple and effective than the again 1974-1984 look.

For anything, these are the looks I grew to love,

I like the Saints in their 1975-1985 and their 1986-1995 look. I do not like Panty-Hose Gold at all!!!

Dallas in these uniforms kept it cleaner. Their silver mess just looks ugly.

This is the one I like. Not to messy. That's why I like Buffalo's new uniforms. It keeps a new look with the old one. :D

I custom made the Bills red/blue mini and red falcons w/ black mask to put on my 80s throwback shelf in my NFL den. I thought it was awesome too. I started watching fb during the 1983 playoffs(I was 6) so I think all of the 80s looks were awesome.

I like CUJO's kelly green eagles updates too as an old w/new look.

I know a lot people including myself has bashed Nike for their uniforms of several NFL teams such as the see-through pants of the Lions, and the sweat stains on their jerseys. But I believe they deserve credit for at least two things this year and they are moving the TV numbers to the shoulders of the Cheifs and especially the Bears as I love their look now. I mean Chicago always had a nice looking uniform, but this years version has to be the best because those stripes are beautiful. Any thoughts?

I absolutely agree for the Bears - okay it's not their "tradition" for the TV numbers to be on the shoulders but it was really causing the sleeve stripes to shrink too much on the Reebok template (plus the bottom stripe was moved to the sleeve cuff). Now I'm not so sure about the Chiefs - since moving from KY to KC last spring I'm now being force-fed Chiefs games and it seems that the new stripe is very inconsistent depending on the jersey cut. The new style looks great on players with some length of sleeve like Cassel and the kickers, not so hot on the linemen. At least the old cuff was fairly consistent - but maybe I'm just used to is since they've had cuffs since I was 6 years old.

However, I see the Bears new jerseys as properly restoring the "real" stripes. Speaking of "real stripes" - the 49ers need to get on board with with this and restore the full stripes. It works on the QB/Kicker cut and based on seeing a few Bears games it works on the other cuts as well.

I finally saw a broncos nike limited jersey the other day and I was excited to get a look at the flywire versus Chinese knockoffs, and I have to say it didn't look bad. I took my curiosity a little further to check nflshop.com to see what the limited jersey's pricing would be customized and I was shocked to see the return of the nil pro-line jerseys.

Just this quick fix to the uniform they currently wear would be a major upgrade...

phi_kelly.png

Sprinkling in a little more silver would'nt hurt either.

I put together a quick road-set as well. Philly would look outstanding with kelly green pants!

phi_kelly2.png

woooooow. im a redskins fan and I absolutely love this. keep the silver/white pants at home, bust out the kelly green pants away, and this might be my favorite set in the league (if it were real).

This Redskins fan would love to see them change to that look also. Kelly green is infinitely better than that yawnfest of a blah green they use now.

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet...

http://www.usatoday....ineman/1612925/

I can completely understand how they feel about the new jerseys as when I tried one on I immediately put it back on the shelf for this very reason.

Bring back the gold pants. So much better than this navy-soaked rags they wear now. That or better yet renew the look altogether to their true colors.

I suppose I'm the only one that isn't really feeling this. It's likely because being a 90's kid, I'll always associate the Eagles with the dark teal, but I see this and think "TV/monitor problem!" It just looks...off to me. And mind you, this is coming from someone who's favorite color is, indeed, kelly green.

Philadelphia could certainly brighten the dark teal up a small bit, but I'd prefer they stay as close to what they have now as possible. It's really one of those cases of growing up in certain generations, in my case, the 90's-00's; it's the same reason I think of the Padres as a "navy team" and think the Knicks look totally weird without black. All of those examples will surely seem preposterous to my elders, but blame my birthdate! :P

The opinions I express are mine, and mine only. If I am to express them, it is not to say you or anyone else is wrong, and certainly not to say that I am right.
