I mean, the whole belts thing after a championship is a completely idiotic idea to me. Symbolizing arrogance and cockiness, these stunts are lowblow towards the losers; a complete d0uche move by the winning team (imagine if the Giants did that in front of Kyle Williams' face). Hate it!

I don't see how a belt conveys that message any more than a giant ring does. And that's just bad by the Blackhawks for using that shoulder logo on the belt. How hard is it to use the actual shoulder logo?

I think we all know that NBA teams would crush the competition--but the point is that a world club competition doesn't exist. Therefore, not "world champs". </pedant>

I cannot agree.

The NBA is unquestionably the highest level of competition in the world. Its champion can lay claim to the "world" title just as the MLB and NFL champions can and do.

Now, you could say that it's a dubious achievement, since there isn't any competition for the title. But that doesn't change the situation.

You can make the argument that they are the world champions due to the NBA featuring the best players in the world, not necessarily basing that on the team locations.

Match up a winner of the Super Bowl/NBA Finals/WORLD Series/Stanley Cup with any winner of any other league in the world (and no, I don't mean team Japan, I mean like the San Francisco Giants vs the Tokyo Giants with their regular rosters or whoever it may be) and the American clubs would systematically destroy those teams every year. It's one thing to have a stellar national club, it's another entirely to have a league team that could be that competitive.

Every sport in the USA puts world champion on their rings..going back to the Packers first Super Bowl ring. Does it really matter? If you want to go down that road why is it called the "World Series?"

Not most Stanley Cup rings.

There's not a competition for the title, therefore the title doesn't exist. Sure, it's semantics... but that's my point.

If you don't want it shoved in your face, don't lose. Simple as that.

I don't begrudge people celebrating a championship they worked hard for and have pursued for their entire careers.

Funny how these guys celebrate winning a championship by playing a real sport. Yet, they use a championship belt from a fake sport.

Yes but it's a proven truth-fact that pro wrestling's often more exciting then real life :P It's one reason I don't hate the current incarnation of the Miami Heat.
