2012 MLB Season

Speaking of pitchers hitting, down 1-0 to the Padres, Madison Bumgarner just jacked a solo shot about 20 rows up in the bleachers to tie the game. Our pitchers can do everything! :P

You mean Astros. Still first homerun at home in 17 games they said for the Giants.

Ahh, yes. Astros. My mistake.

Vladimir was a top player for Les Expos and it could be the fact he stared for one Canadian team and returned for the other.

I was one who was very excited to have Vlad join the Jays. I was actually hoping he would play on Canada Day, and be able to grab a Canada Day jersey with his name and #. Oh well, more money in the bank I suppose

It would have been a nice way to end his career if he played for the Jays.

Even better if he finished his career in a Nationals jersey; you know, for faux nostalgia sake. ^_^

Harper is doing stuff that Andruw Jones and ARod weren't doing as teenagers. Not only that, but his OPS right now is among the best in all of baseball. That guy is absurd. Ditto with Mike Trout.

This weekend's Yankees/Nats series should be a good one. Washington was my sleeper pick to have a big season (94 wins), and they aren't disappointing right now. They'll be even better if some of their bigger names could start hitting again (namely, Zimmerman and Morse).

You could get a custom one...

I was quoting other memebers who blew their load when the Jays originally signed Vlad.

Why anyone would drop coin a custom jersey of a washed-up, mid-season singee who never even made the squad, is really beyond me.

I was actually going to get a player tee when/if he got called up. I wanted a Jays shirt, and I have Angels and Orioles Vlad tees.

What about Vlad's... OTHER stop in recent years? :)

I noticed that last night while scoring. I definitely went to go check B-R to see if it's something that's happened more. He hasn't pitched in Tucson. Maybe he's being converted to a full time batter.

I read an article from a Tucson paper that said he's trying to move to the bullpen and be able to come off the bench to pinch hit. Pretty cool if he can actually make it work. And he hasn't pitched because he's all hurt. His arm is healthy enough to play first or dh but not pitch yet.

I've been stunned at his growth as a player.

I was thinking it would take him at least another year to get to the point where he is now. The defense is still a little suspect, but he's not inept out there like he was when he first called up. I would grade him more as being below average now which again is a huge improvement over being argubly the worst defensive right fielder in the game when he first started out. He was making errors left and right. Now he looks very polished out there with the glove and just needs to learn how to read balls off the bat better which I think is the toughest thing to do as an outfielder.

Hitting wise it just goes without saying that he's been the best hitter for the Nats up to this point. He's probably going to wind up leading the team in every major offensive category by the end of the season and will be a legit MVP contender by next year something I didn't think he was going to be able to do for another two or three years.

R.A. Dickey making a solid argument for being the NL starting pitcher in the All-Star game tonight.

Just broke Jerry Koosman's record for most consecutive scoreless innings pitched by a Met and will likely be the first to win 10 games this year unless the Rays mount an incredible comeback.

He's also pitching a one hitter tonight, has struck out 12 and hasn't allowed a walk through eight innings.

R.A. Dickey is friggen absurd.

He was excellent the past two years for the Mets. I'm not even sure what adjective is appropriate for how good he's been this year. He's literally been unhittable in his past four-five starts. And he's struck out some 50 batters in the past four, and the only thing he never did before was rack up the K's.

Huge reason for the Mets surprising success to start 2012.

And I am so happy that he is on my UL fantasy team, he is doing phenominal, I would give him the first half CY Young if the All-Star game was tomorrow.

Lost the scoreless streak on an unearned run in the ninth but still the first pitcher to win 10 games this year on a complete game one hitter.

With knuckleballs you can have two of three things. Velocity, movement or control. Dickey though somehow has managed to get all three. I don't know if there's ever been a pitcher to do that.
