RayFinkle
Worst SB field ever!!Blue endzones, a small azzed NFL shield, no helmets, might as well be a Giants home regular season game.

TheOldRoman
No, the field looked terrible. They should have used orange for the Broncos, and the wordmark should have had an outline no matter what color it was in. Seattle's wordmark was white, meaning they excluded their second and third colors entirely. How hard would it have been to use a gray wordmark outlined in green? Or if they wanted to go without outlines, a green wordmark. Even a bland-as-hell gray wordmark would have been more appropriate. This was one of the worst fields yet. Sport
Another shot of SB XXXIXSB XXXI in New Orleans...Pats used a red endzone.I remember feeling deprived when I saw this field for the first time. Every year I would watch the Super Bowl and wonder what the NFC logo would look like superimposed on a Packers helmet. Then the year they finally made it wound up being the year they scrapped the endzone helmets.I'm not a Packers fan, but I can remember watching the opening kickoff with my parents at age 9 and remarking with disappointment how they didn't have helmets in the endzones like all the other Super Bowls. It's amazing they didn't have me studied after that. What 9 year old has an interest in field graphics? This is what that Super Bowl field should've looked like:

Dalcowboyfan92
What I was always curious about was what would the endzones look like for the teams that never made it to the Super Bowl? (When the had the giant helmet logos in the endzones.)So, that would be Cleveland, Detroit, St. Louis/Phoenix Cardinals, Houston Oilers, Tampa Bay Buccanneers (old uniforms), New Orleans, Atlanta, Seattle...Not including expansion franchises, I don't think I got them all. kw11333
The last 4 Super Bowls have all had the same basic template. The NFL clearly wants its logo at center field
PhlyBoy
I'll be honest, helmets in the end zones are very overrated in my opinion and look tacky. Especially with the conference logo in the helmet. The end zone format they have right now is perfect. I do miss the Super Bowl logo at the 50 and the helmets at the 25's however, but with the new logo standardization I'm fine with the NFL logo in the middle. The way they do the fields is about as good as they've been. Maybe the colored 20's of each team, but otherwise nothings wrong with the fields. That's one good looking field below

I was growing up when Dallas won their 3 Super Bowls in the 90s, but my dad has documentary videotapes featuring their runs to the big game in '93, '94 and '96.Seeing the field and seeing the big helmets on the field, it was really cool to see; even it wasn't live or a pre-recorded tape,

That is true. I was born in '92 so my own personal Super Bowl memory is only XXXI and after, but I've seen all the old clips of the old fields. Just seems cluttered to me. A big logo instead of a helmet just works better IMO.

I meant it all in good fun.Yeah it was really special to see your team's helmet and wordmark in the Super Bowl style endzone and it was just another part of the Super Bowl experience.Leading up to the Super Bowl ESPN used to always air a marathon of the NFL Films Super Bowl highlights in chronological order. And of course I watched each and every one (even the bitter Bengal defeats). The fields being the same year after year regardless of venue always felt like a link in history to the games of the past connecting it with the game presently being played. And because of that history it felt bigger, more grand than just the logo.I don't disagree that a logo looks cleaner than a helmet with the same logo, but I will probably always prefer the helmets in the endzone because of what they symbolize. I miss them and I wish they would bring them back.
