raysox
Thought of this. Simple game making people feel old about themselves. You say your birth year, and then things in sports that haven't happened since you've been born. No championships. Anyone can say that the Cubs haven't won. That's stupid. So I'll go first.Birth Year: 1994The Redwings haven't missed the playoffs. The Cardinals weren't known as the Phoenix CardinalsThe Pirates haven't had a winning seasonThose are 3 real quick ones. zpqmaowl
Let's just say that I've been alive for every regular season interleague game and never for a season without it.

JTernup
^ I'm sure that would be fine. Also born in '94, the world really was a much different place, sports and otherwise. As for shoes, the Jordan 9 was the current shoe when I was born (about to be the 10) and they are now on the equivalent of the AJ27, better known as the AJ 2012. Saintsfan
When I read 'Dating yourself' I thought of something completely different!!I was trying to think of something that happened in my year of birth but hasn't happened since, still thinking about it! tBBP
Well...I was born the same year the Colts moved from Baltimore to Indianapolis.28 years later, I moved from (just south of) Baltimore to (just south of) Indianapolis.Beat that.
Evil Doctor
I'm not sure about this game. When I was born, there were still 6 teams in the NHL, but I don't remember that, I only remember when there were 18 teams. I remember the Kansas City Scouts, when Hamilton's junior team was the Hamilton Red Wings (and that Major Junior was called Junior 'A'). I was at the Hamilton Forum twice before it's demolition (yes the same arena that once was known as the Barton St. Arena and was home to the NHL Hamilton Tigers and the first NHL team to have a regulation ice surface, but I wasn't around for that... ) I was around for 4 Tiger-Cat Grey Cup victories but I only remember two (though I remember some of the festivities surrounding the 1972 Grey Cup when it was hosted by Hamilton). I remember seeing advertisements for the Buffalo Braves...
BlueSky
Well, thanks but no thanks. I need no help whatsoever feeling old. I'm going a little off the intent of the thread but the year I was born, the Packers and Yankees won their respective titles; the week I was born, two of the top five songs in the country were...instrumentals?? One of the non-instrumentals was by Elvis. Space-wise, most of you I'm sure are shuttle-era brats, but they made a stamp about something that happened the year I was born:Are you getting the part about needing no reminders? Years ago I dated a young lady who was, well, markedly younger (15 years). My description of the experience was being an NPR guy in an MTV world. (I'm sure some here are young enough to even wonder what NPR is...Google, friends, Google. Sigh...)
PacificCoastRL
There were six teams in the NHL.There were 16 teams in MLB, the Dodgers were still in Brooklyn and the Giants were still in New York.

PurpleRush
I was born in July. So I am not counting seasons / champions that ended that year in the months before I was born.I was born the year the League Championship series were first played MLB.This was the only year that the entire NHL playoff field had 0 Canadian teams. This was the first year of play for the Buffalo Sabres and Vancouver Canucks.Add "of my lifetime" to the end of each of the following:The Bruins were the first Stanley Cup winners. The Mets were the first World Series winnners. The Knicks were the first NBA champions.Kansas City the first Super Bowl champion.UCLA was the first men's D-1 college basketball national champion.Texas was the first D-1 college football national champion.Cornell was the first college ice hockey champion. TFoA
October, 1988I was born 2 months after the 1st night game at Wrigley Field.I've never been alive for an Olympiad that didn't involve a "Dream Team" in basketball.Notre Dame last won a National Championship in football when I was barely 3 months old.The Dodgers have won 21 pennants & 6 World Series. All of it was done before I was born, and their last WS win happened 5 days before I was born. The Braves being a cellar-dweller laughingstock is foreign to me.The Raiders moving to Oakland was just a "move" to my generation rather than a return, since I was born when they were in LA.The following teams have made no major changes to their primary logos or uniforms since October 1988: New York Yankees, Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, LA/Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers (other than the numbers & logo on the jersey, same damn uniform & logo) Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens. Every other team in the Big 4 has either had a somewhat distinct change in their uniform design or just got a new identity completely since I was born.I suppose those are the good ones for me. maz
Since: April 1993No winning seasons for the Pirates.Only two people have coached the Steelers.I remember, and went to, old Three Rivers Stadium. The Stars have always been in Dallas. The NHL Conferences have always been East and West. There's always been hockey in San Jose, Ottawa, and Tampa Bay.Been alive for the entire history of the Anaheim, Florida, Columbus, Nashville, and Atlanta NHL franchises, as well as the second Minnesota one. Lived through the end of the Hartford, Quebec, and first Winnipeg and Minnesota ones.In fact, I am old enough remember when there were no Jackets, Thrashers, or Wild.I remember the Avalanche being a dominant franchise. As well as the Devils. The Wings always have been. The Blues have always looked good.Gretzky never played for Edmonton.A Canadian team has won the cup once. The Robo Pigeon was invented the season I was born, so I was exposed to that logo straight up until it was gotten rid of a few years ago. Maybe that's why I still like it so much...
