2. I'm going to put this in large font since this is a point you and others fail to grasp.

YOU NEED TO WANT THE ALL STAR GAME IN ORDER TO GET IT. THOSE CITIES HAVEN'T SHOWN ANY SIGNS OF WANTING TO HOST ONE.

Quoting this for posterity.

Miami hasn't had an All-Star Game since 1990 at the Pink Elephant. I'm surprised they haven't gotten one at the new place. Renovated MSG and Barclays should get them soon, too. After that, might be time to adopt a Super Bowl-style rotation of three or four constants and a special guest.

Chicago never had it at United that would be a good choice too.

Not sure why that is either, although the United Center hasn't hosted the NHL all-star game either.

THEY DON'T WANT TO HOST ONE!

Is it okay to ask why they don't want to host one (even as hypothetical) or that going to issue angry response to?

1. Contrary to what some are saying here, it is quite the logistical hassle to set up for basketball and hip hop's biggest multi-day party, as well as make arrangements for the entertainment and care of the large entourages and camp followers that accompany said party.

2. IIRC The NBA does not provide a lot of help with point 1.

3. In the case of Chicago, while the city itself would not mind the glitz and glamour per se, I suspect given the general...demographic...overtones of Daley II's revitalization of Chicago and no sign Rahm I would be any different, the city would be reluctant to say the least to host the NBA all star game.

4. Chicago specific again: Like most Illinois governmental entities, money is kind of scarce for the city (which is a problem) and really scarce for the state (which is bad if things go over budget. Which they will.)

To further elaborate on various points, the logistics were such a huge hassle that Philly for example said they would never host a game again after the 2002 game.

You got most of them in, except for the fact that the NBA controls ticket distribution/pricing for Rookie/Sophomore game, All Star Saturday and the All Star Game. Season ticket holders of the host team, regardless of what they pay, have little to no shot at event tickets. This year, the Magic has approx. 3,000 tickets for All Star Saturday and the All Star Game. The only reason why Dallas bid for it was because Mark Cuban could accommodate his season ticket holders much better within Cowboys Stadium than he could at the AAC.

Then let's just rotate the god damn thing between Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, New Orleans, New York, Brooklyn and possibly San Francisco (after 2016) if the Warriors do decide to build a new arena there. Throw in Dallas, Houston and Phoenix as once in awhile hosts as well.

Here are ideas for other teams to use Mark Cuban's plan:

Suns host it at University of Phoenix Stadium

Rockets host it at Reliant Stadium

Spurs host it at the Alamodome (with a full-use capacity this time)

Hornets host it at the Superdome

Pistons host it at Ford Field

Pacers host it at Lucas Oil Stadium

Raptors host it at Rogers Centre (with a full-use capacity this time)

Maybe the Bucks might even host it at Miller Park one of these years...

Yes, you've successfully listed football/baseball venues in the same cities as NBA teams. I don't think many or any of those are viable locations, though.
