Did the New Jersey Nets tease their Brooklyn logo?

Ok yeah, after seeing those other logos, I'm glad the Nets went with what they did.

September? I hope they leak before that.

It might not just be a leak before then. When the Wizards came out with their new jerseys, they weren't available for purchase until then, although you could pre-order.

It's strange to me that they wouldn't have jerseys to show around the time of the draft. I wonder what they'll have their picks hold up instead.

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

The Mavs already tried that. Didn't work.

The 1996 NFL draft was so soon after Modell moved the Browns to Baltimore that there weren't even Ravens LOGOS yet, let alone jerseys.

So who designed the logo- JayZ or Timothy P Morris?

Maybe they're both aliases for the same man. ;)

I like the bold lettering much better than the thin.

That uniform above looks a little like an evening gown on the top.

I think it fits the logo a lot better too (though still looks a bit clumsy), but I guess they changed it because bold lettering doesn't fit the brand identity that they were going for.

Man I am sick of the clip art basketball. Can only hope when Stern finally leaves, we can get back to some nice, unique logos. Horrible.

I'm not sure what Stern has to do with the current trend in basketball logos.

They aren't.

I know. Its a joke.

All we know is Morris has collaborated with Jay Z in the past. So this could be the same - Jay Z provided a general concept and Morris was in charge of execution.

Presume he's referring to the league's logo policies, including their treatment of primaries-that-aren't-ever-actually-used and charging teams to change logos but not for recoloring them.

At this point their logo policies are getting pretty ridiculous. Its obvious that teams are increasingly bypassing those regulations by making more creative secondary logos that they essentially use as primaries.

Its the same with the Nets... The "Nets" shield was probably made just so they can satisfy league requirements, but it seems that they intend to push the BROOKLYN NEW YORK circle logo just as much (if not more) and even referred to it as their second primary.

I mentioned that.

By arching the type and using a typeface that wasn't even used then (many of those signs seem hand-drawn), the connection is really no more than "we also use black and white." At that superficial point, you might as well say you're taking inspiration from a term paper.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
