Happy birthday, Marty. Here's a puck. Oops, sorry - didn't mean to put it in the net behind you there.

What an unexpected turn of events, considering the start of the period. I'm cautiously optimistic about this game now.

Edit: 2-2 now. It's a hockey game.

I think if Philly loses this one, they're done. At which point I will be quite troubled and become a temporary fan of whoever wins the WSH/NYR series.

So help me if the Devils pull a cup run outta thier rears and ruin my playoff fun, I will crap a rage chicken.

Well, I guess I'll root for whomever can beat Jersey for the remainder of the playoffs. I can not bring myself to root for any team named Devils. So...go Rangers - or Caps - or Kings...

Shut up Brian Hayward, your envy is too loud.

You are joking.

This is a joke.

Yes, yes I am. He was sort of annoying in the Vancouver series, maybe someone told him to tone it down a bit.

I mean, I hear the guy on an almost daily basis during Ducks season, so I reach my points of annoyance with him. But I think he's actually been pretty good all-around in this postseason. I'm happy he's getting some work in.

All I heard from him was Vancouver Vancouver Vancouver Vancouver Vancouver Vancouver Vancouver Vancouver Vancouver Vancouver oh look the Kings scored Vancouver Vancouver Vancouver Vancouver Vancouver Vancouver Vancouver.

And he hasn't been slobbing all over Quick? I think you're being conveniently deaf here. (And didn't he only announce one game of the VAN/LA series? And didn't you get Bob Miller and his trained chimpanzee on FSWest for that series?)

Bob Miller and Jim Fox are year in and year out voted the Best in So Cal, and Brian Heyward is laughed at. Jim Fox has more awards than Brian Heyward has stupid comments per every period he announces. Jim Fox's awards are as follows:

In the October 2, 2006, issue of Sports Illustrated, Fox was named the best analyst in hockey, and in February of 2007, Fox was named as the best TV color commentator in Southern California by the Los Angeles Daily News and columnist Tom Hoffarth, an honor Fox has enjoyed nine of the last 10 years. In 2008, the Southern California Sports Broadcasters Association honored him with the top Pre and Post Game Shows commentator award and in 2009 -- and again in 2011 -- he was awarded the Television Analyst award.

Now I will say that Heyward was good this series because he wasn't crying foul from anyone touching a Duck player and was actually watch and analyzing the hockey game. The problem with Heyward is he's so stupidly biased towards the Ducks that even Hawk Harrelson and the late and bad Harry Carry tell him to shut up and stop whining.

The prospect of a Kings/Coyotes vs Devils Stanley Cup Finals makes me want to put hockey below tennis on my sports interest list.

So, you're the type who wants to see Pittsburgh vs Vancouver/Detroit year in and year out?

No, absolutely not. It's just crappy that in the year of the absolute anomaly that three teams I can't stand are there.

You know, I watched a few Kings games this season and I didn't have a single thought on Bob Miller. Maybe this is what makes him so great, that he stays out of the way and doesn't engender any thoughts one way or the other, because god knows Emrick swings for the fences on every call and does nothing but annoy the living crap out of me, but I dunno, I don't really have thoughts on John Forslund or Rick Peckham, either, and I don't exactly consider John Forslund and Rick Peckham to be legends in their field. They're both former Whalers, though!

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Laughed at? That's why HAYWARD has had numerous national assignments over the years.

Awards? Great. The Wire never won an Emmy. There are many movies each year that I enjoy more than the Best Picture nominees. It's nice that Bob Miller has rubbed off some on him over the years. Notice that I called him a TRAINED chimpanzee.

Look, Jim Fox annoys Ducks fans in the same way that Hayward annoys Kings fans. He's the broadcaster of the rival team. I know the thing that always sticks out to me about Fox is how he ends very sentence on an UPNOTE? Like he's asking a QUESTION? Almost to make sure that he's CORRECT? And it's funny that you try to color Hayward as the worst homer in the world of homers, because a complaint a lot of Ducks fans have is that he talks about the other team too much. I've always thought Hayward was pretty fair. Now does he go overboard for the team that signs his paycheck a few times? Of course, any color analyst will do that from time to time. He will also go out of his way to criticize bad play by the Ducks. He'll go out of his way to praise the other team, too. Hell, if anything, Hayward is more biased towards either team's goalie than he is to an actual team.

---------------

The Devils are impressing me, no doubt. The way they dominated the game today impressed me, although it wasn't showing up on the board most of the game. I haven't really been able to get a beat on the Devils through the season/playoffs, and I'm starting to get a slight feel for them now. I still wouldn't want to see them in the final. I'm looking for the Capitals/Rangers winner in the East, and I'd like to see the Caps finally get there. Especially with how they've changed up their game this year.

In the West, it's still nuts that it's most likely going to be either LA or Phoenix coming out. An all-Pacific Division Final seemed out of the question the way those teams were slotted and how they had to absolutely scrap all the way to the end of the season. I think it's been made pretty obvious who I want to come out of the West.
