Lights Out
Much like Rockstar Matt, the Kings' run made a hockey fan out of this basketball loyalist. I had been watching hockey extremely casually for a while without a team to truly root for, but this year's Kings made me like the sport for real (excluding Bettman, who is a huge joke). I guess this makes me a soulless bandwagoner, but go Kings. I had loosely followed them since last year anyway, but this year cemented it. Magnus
Just saw TSN's montage and they closed it out with Doc Emerick saying "the Kings are the Kings!" Real creative.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aX6XMIldkRU
LMU
Well, seeing as how the Kings are for me 1B to the Halos 1A in my allegiance, this has been perhaps the best 24 hours sports-wise since 2002. I still remember the exact place I was in 1993 when I had Game 2 on the radio and heard the McSorley stick penalty called. Hell, I even got to meet Jim Fox at my junior high career day (and I was ironically wearing my Gretzky era white jersey that day. So, this is a whole life of hockey fandom that is finally rewarded
charger77
Added bonus. My BLACK Kings jersey wont have crappy screened shoulder patches like Chicago and Boston from the last two years. Squeaks4
Little late to this but unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I wasn't able to watch the game last night. I say fortunately because I don't think I would of been able to stomach Dustin Brown getting the cup first. But beyond that, Congrats to the Kings and all their real fans. It must of been an incredible feeling for the long time Kings fans last night. The best team of the playoffs won and I have no bitter feelings towards the Kings or their fans. Enjoy the moment as much as possible.I have said it already multiple times in this thread but I just have to say again how impressed I am with Quick. I absolutely cannot wait for 2014 for the possibility of seeing him wearing the Stars & Stripes in Russia.

ninersdd
Yeah, the US has to be sitting pretty in the goal in a couple of years. Quick, Ryan Miller, Cory Schneider, and Jimmy Howard isn't a bad group to choose from. The US might have the advantage in goal over other teams at the moment. All series long I was in here begging for the Kings to win at home because I think the Home jersey is vastly superior to the road. I would have got the road if I had to but I think the Finals patch looks lost on it because there is so much white already. crashcarson15
I know the discussion kind of burned out, but could it be that Bettman wasn't booed because the Cup was finally won at home? You had happy fans as opposed to :censored:ty fans that just watched their team lose the Cup.Congrats to LA. Just not Jeff Carter. As an aside, the Blue Jackets can't win. In the Jeff Carter deal was the option to take the Kings' pick this year or next year. The pick went from 17th to 30th in these playoffs. Plus the CBJ lost the lottery. :censored us. What's the hurry? It'll probably be in the 20s next year - the CBJ figured they were trading for a mid-first round pick and it'll probably be solidly late. The_Admiral
You're not allowed to get mad at being screwed over by a loophole in your no-trade clause so that the team that "committed" to you can go sign Red Light Bryzgalov. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
oddball
Why am I'm seeing more hate for the Kings winning the Cup than I will next week after the Heat win the NBA Finals? It's just a bunch of pissed off Philly fans who saw their team's commitment win a Cup in another city. Oh and let's not forget the pissed off Columbus fans who's franchise sucks and has 1 (Nash) and a half players (because Jack Johnson forgets to play defense a lot) and really has no hope at this point in time. More cap problems!Granted, I would LOVE to have Nash as he's a great talent, but that move doesn't really make much long term sense IMO unless there are quite a few other moves to be made. The_Admiral
I don't think all that highly of Nash. Columbus has been so bad for so long despite him, and up until he asked for a trade "for the good of the team," he'd been disturbingly complacent with that. Great talent in spots, missing something he needs to be truly elite. The Sharks are mollycoddled enough by fans and media for him to thrive. If he goes to Philadelphia or New York, he'll wilt like spinach. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
evanmaldonado
Nash is lazy, and I've never seen him try except playing for team Canada. He also pulls the same fake glove side go blocker side move almost every time he can. He's incredibly predictable, not a leader (it's sad when he's already been eclipsed in leadership by Jack Johnson), has no drive to succeed, and is highly overrated. The fact that we're gonna get a huge haul for him is fantastic, and I cannot be more excited for his trade.
