Kevin W. 1,951 Posted June 27, 2012 Soccer kits just look empty without a sponsor. It's a tradition.
HeyDingis 3 Posted June 27, 2012 It's as much a tradition not to have a sponsor, considering sponsors weren't added until the mid-80's. Personally, I think both large team names and sponsors are vastly inferior to the national team look of just the crest and manufacturer logo. It looks classy and lets the team colors do the talking.

Maybe it's some sort of false nostalgia or just sponsor fatigue from today's game, but for my money you can't beat looks like these:

It's a tradition.Just to add to the other comments, I think most soccer fans regard sponsors as a necessary evil rather than anything positive. Tradition doesn't come into it.

Tradition doesn't come into it.I didn't say it's a positive tradition. It's a necessary evil that isn't going away anytime soon. I see that as a tradition. Not all traditions are good.
HeyDingis 3 Posted June 27, 2012 I want badly for a team - any team - to sign a deal whereby teams wear sponsored kits on the pitch, but supporters have the option to either look like the team or get a shirt without a sponsor. If they could sell enough sponsor-less shirts to make up for the smaller sponsor contract, it might set a trend for other clubs.
RyanB06 79 Posted June 27, 2012 And the rest of the league loves how it puts them at a competitive disadvantage and makes them an even easier punchline.Didn't hurt the Revolution that much, and they only added a kit sponsor middle of last year.

Some teams already produce sponsor less kids kits, because they are sponsored by drinks or gambling companies, but I wonder how many people, when faced with a choice would buy the sponsor less shirts? If its not exactly what the team is wearing, would fans want to buy the non sponsored versions?

Picked up the long sleeve no sponsor Bumblebee top a few years back (before they murdered it with this version). I'm contemplating getting the new hoops, though I may just get a long sleeve with sponsor version, considering how small and unassuming the Tennent's is this year.

At least the color isn't out of place. From afar it shouldn't look too bad. The first jersey they revealed was misprinted or something, because the logo was too low. Just glad it's not this:How this got past quality control, I do not know.
SCL 486 Posted June 27, 2012 Would've been cleaner if the advocate logo fit in the white hoop.

Gothamite 24,064 Posted June 27, 2012 Would've been cleaner if the advocate logo fit in the white hoop.Advocare. The Advocate would have been a huge step up.Seriously, though - three pyramid schemes as MLS shirt sponsors? Doesn't do much to establish MLS as a quality brand itself...
Sodboy13 5,674 Posted June 27, 2012 How many EPL/Championship clubs are sponsored by offshore casinos/sports wagering sites? Doesn't seem to ding their credibility.Anyway, at least it goes with the uniform's color scheme, and at least it ain't magicJack.

aawagner011 2,380 Posted June 27, 2012 Would have looked miles better if they used just the text Advocare and put it in the white hoop. Would have looked much cleaner.
