Miami Dolphins

Florida Marlins

Florida Panthers---

2 of the 3 are fish, all 3 are animals, 2 of the three share colors, and all 3 were owned by the same man at the same time.

Marlins, Dolphins

Dolphins Aqua- Marlins Teal, Dolphins Orange, Marlins Orange (stitches on ball)

Dolphins Navy, Panthers Navy

Wayne Huizinga owned them all.

  • Dolphins are not fish
  • Most sports teams are named after animals
  • Navy is a pretty generic colour

Oh Bleep you. ;)

Not exactly a city nickname, but a phoenix is in the seal of Atlanta, a reference to the city's rebirth after its Civil War burning. A team obviously cannot be named the Phoenix given the existence of a city by that name. However, if the NHL ever decides to give Atlanta a third try to keep a team, I think the Firebirds would be a great name. Atlanta Flames + Atlanta Thrashers = Atlanta Firebirds. Phoenix = Firebird.
