NFL Draft Picks With Their New Uniforms

Yeah, what's the story behind that?

It seems sometimes those sleeves are just for fashion, but I do remember there being a case once years ago when an NBA player was prescribed to wear it for tendonitis or circulatory reasons or something, and he ended up keeping it on because the fans liked it...I think it was Allen Iverson, maybe? Can't remember for certain, I just remember reading about it years ago. My point is, you never really can tell anymore with those kinds of sleeves. Some have a legit reason while others wear it to "look cool" (I saw a lot of that playing high school sports).

I believe Iverson was one of if not the first to wear an arm sleeve like that. In my high schools athletic league you had to have a doctors note to wear one, so I guess there's some medical reason for it

I really like the colored cleats for the skins.

He looks like a clown in those yellow shoes.

Hopefully only some of the "look at me" players indulge in the goofy-ass "team colored cleats" and most of the football players wear the same colored shoes.

The last thing we need is the NFL to start looking like the NBA, who look like complete clowns.

I think the NFL is looking at going to fully team colored shoes. I'm fine with them as long as the team as a whole does it.

That's the deal.

Before, teams had the option of being black-shoe teams or white-shoe teams. Apparently now they have the option of being team-color-shoe teams.

So, you are in favor of clownish, goofy-ass "look at me" uniforms, yet you draw the line at footwear?

I'd think that, given the NFL's uniform strictness, that it would be a team-by-team, as opposed to player-by-player, decision.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

I would have no problem with that either.

Just don't want to see 37 guys in white shoes and 10 guys in yellow shoes. That looks tacky.

I hope you are right that it will be a team thing. Either everyone or nobody. And you get fined if you don't get in line.

The NBA looks like a rec league now, with all the different colored shoes. Makes a selfish sport look even more individualistic.

I agree there has to be some uniformity, but I wouldn't mind if they did something like offense in black/white cleats, defense in colored cleats or something like that. That would keep things more uniform and would actually make it easier for casual fans to spot who's on the field.

Absolutely absurd.

As absurd as these brightly-colored shoes?

I don't understand the whining about a player's PRACTICE shoes. The team will never wear those in a game, although the Bears went that route to match some equally "absurd" orange jerseys.

Their gameday shoes are usually black with either a little white or gold accent.

Well special teams would look silly, and I'm not sure how it would make it easier to spot who is on the field - offense are the guys with the quarterback and the ball, defense are the guys on the other side with the linebackers and safeties.

the same color cleat rule has only been around since the early 90's. Between the players and manufacturers' desire for more team colored footwear the move to team colored cleats was inevitable.

Not for nothing, but whoever said white guys can't jump never met this guy.

(Is that Brian Leonard, by the way?)
