the admiral 28,727 Posted December 1, 2015 The first few cuts off MGMT's Oracular Spectacular could be grafted onto the first Empire of the Sun album to form the best electropop record of 2008.

the admiral 28,727 Posted July 22, 2016 Also, speaking of Empire of the Sun, anyone notice "Walking on a Dream" getting lots of AAA airplay? Did they reissue the single because it was in a car commercial?

Did they reissue the single because it was in a car commercial? Yes. The song actually went platinum in the USA thanks to downloads that were inspired by that car commercial. The song hit the top five on the alternative charts in the USA, and had a cup of coffee in the top 40 on pop radio as well. Fun fact: Buzzy Cohen, a champion on Jeopardy!, works for the company that brokered the deal between Honda and EOTS to get that song in the commercial.

habsfan1 3,969 Posted June 8, 2017 Even by 90s standards, I don't understand how they couldn't come up with better designs. Their music is great, though...
kroywen 2,280 Posted June 8, 2017 U2's first album, Boy, was a legitimately great album (especially for a debut album), but a shirtless boy is a godawful idea for an album cover: One of its singles, "I Will Follow," had an even worse cover: Just so awkward to even look at.

the admiral 28,727 Posted June 9, 2017 I don't think there's anything bad about it. And they used him again for War, which is not just not bad, but good. Songs of Innocence, now that one was creepy.
TShaw528 28 Posted June 11, 2017 Catalyst has a pretty awful early 2000s cover

If an album cover like that was approved in today's day and age, their would be enough revolting that it would probably be banned immediately. Or the lawsuit oppurtunities would be too much.
