TheOneAndOnlyMau 10 Posted June 27, 2012 Hello all, its been a while.Just got back from a study abroad program and needed to make some kind of concept. I had done an Iowa pro combat concept a while back and decided to build upon it a bit. I wanted to move away from the steelers look and give iowa a clean, streamlined, modern look. Not too much else to add. C&C welcome and appreciated.Concept Sketches:Final Design Booklet:http://issuu.com/chris.maurer/docs/iowa_uniform_pres
lancealot 84 Posted June 27, 2012 Tht is pretty much perfect and those schetches are insane thou I would lose the two tone numbers and maybe use a little more yellow
WSU151 10,066 Posted June 27, 2012 Great job putting the artwork into digitized form. I really wish I had either talent. The only thing I would change would be to take the stripes off the helmet (leaving it stripeless) and make the home pants yellow/gold. The 3d effect on the number font is unneeded - I think if you kept that font and took out the shadow it'd look better.Great concept - very modern, not too flashy, gets away from the Steelers look, harkens back to banana peels without being gaudy, and...just looks good.
B@ltim0r3R@v3n5 0 Posted June 27, 2012 Looks good I mean the avg and the sketches
buckeye 418 Posted June 27, 2012 I think on the white jersey it needs a bit more yellow, and I would make the numbers one color, but other than that, I like it.
St Louis Cardinals 289 Posted June 27, 2012 ya, add some yellow to the road like in the sketches
TheOneAndOnlyMau 10 Posted June 27, 2012 Thanks for the comments everyone. Good to get back into it. Bumping this for a few more comments
pscf3 286 Posted June 27, 2012 Hey! Iowa can't wear this, the Steelers haven't!Jokes aside, I like it. Shoulder Stripes look good and modern. And good job on drawing the templates. That's something I could never do. It may not look as professional, like the computer templates you made at the bottom, but it looks more impressive.
thespleenenator 71 Posted June 28, 2012 Sweet Jesus that's incredible! Honestly, that's the best Iowa concept I've ever seen, and I really hope that somehow they wear this in the future!
henburg 1,652 Posted June 28, 2012 Wow, your sketches are absolutely fantastic! I don't like the effect you used on the numbers, but other than that it's amazing.
Mr. Aware Eagle 0 Posted June 28, 2012 This is a good look for Iowa, though I wouldn't mind seeing some yellow pants in the mix.
BaseballBacks 0 Posted June 29, 2012 As a lifelong Hawkeye fan, thanks for not changing the Tigerhawk. Enjoyed your concept. With the jerseys being fitted different recently, they lose the striped sleeves so I liked the shoulder stripes (slight nod to the mid-90s unis). Like others have said, would like to see more yellow incorporated throughout both uniforms. Also, I liked to see the rest of the digits as well.
generalshepherd141 86 Posted June 29, 2012 Des Moines has a metro population of less than 600,000. No NFL ould work there.
DelayedPenalty 156 Posted June 29, 2012 Only comment I have is the size of the numbers, a number like 88 isn't going to fit at the size they are now. Take them down a bit, drop the two-tone grey and white, maybe include some yellow?Other than that everything looks fantastic!
drdougfresh 690 Posted June 29, 2012 Des Moines has a metro population of less than 600,000. No NFL ould work there.Which has nothing to do with the concept, or this thread...I vote you add back the yellow piping around the collar that was there in the initial sketches. I think that may balance it out nice. I actually like the lack of yellow pants, because it's different for them (and not like the Steelers).
Midway 581 Posted June 30, 2012 Everything is flat out gorgeous, I just can't really see those cool helmet stripes that would bring the whole look together nicely. Make those more pronounced and I'm sold. Other then that I have nothing else to add that hasn't already been mentioned.
TheOneAndOnlyMau 10 Posted July 2, 2012 Thanks for the comments everyone! Here is the finished product. I added a yellow pants option as well as the yellow neck piping as in the original concept sketches. What do you think?http://issuu.com/chris.maurer/docs/iowa_uniform_pres
