I'd rather take a point blank paintball shot to the junk than watch that game again.

Also - I really don't want to hear anything about perspective or optimism right now. The Bears came into this game starting a $3.5 mil backup QB, an offense (besides Cutler) that was almost totally healthy, and a defense that has been a force throughout the league.

They got taken to the woodshed and beaten so thoroughly that it's not a simple loss like the Texans where we can pick up the pieces and come back next week against the Vikings - this was a reality check. This team, quite frankly, is a few notches above mediocre, nothing more. The Bears beat up on softies and when it came down to a primetime game against a conference power, the proof is in the scoreboard.

Beaten mercilessly in every single aspect, with nothing to show for it but an overpaid backup who is a total squarepeg in this offense, ANOTHER injury to Alshon Jeffery, and crushed pride throughout the organization. The arrow isn't pointing up. The room for recovery is slim. We're going to spend the next month enduring this Bears team starting completely from scratch to salvage a Win Now season as other organizations prove their mettle and galvanize a hot streak into the postseason.

There is very much a good reason to be afraid if you're a Bears fan right now. To write this game off as a freak accident is a huge underestimation.

Yeah, this is (was) the last year in the Urlacher/Briggs/Peppers/Tillman window. Now more than ever, it's time to dream it all up again, but it's more likely that the Bears will just keep dragging the Lovie Smith Country Club out until all the guys who "love playing for him because he's like a dad" are like 40 and/or dead.

Gabe Carimi should be shot out of a cannon. The last of the great Jerry Angelo "let's take a flyer on an injured guy but do it with our first-round pick" busts.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

So, howabout my boy Colin Kaepernick? :D

Sure, it's only one start, but the guy was an absolute blast to watch in college. He was always clutch and he made great decisions under pressure. I was at the game vs Boise State in 2010 and if not for his stellar decision making in the second half, the Wolf Pack wouldn't have ever had a shot. It's gonna be fun to see his career progress.

I'm hoping Emery is above that and if the meltdown over the next month is as I have prophesied, they take advantage of the opportunity to flush the old guard of coaches.

I was willing to give Carimi the "sort of rookie" benefit of the doubt for half a season, but he's shown he simply doesn't have it to make it in this league. It's as you stated - time to move on and cut off the leprous decaying flesh.

He had a hell of a game. He was composed, made quick decisions, and his freakish athleticism opened up opportunities for the offense.

Well for Week 13, it appears that Eagles-Cowboys will stay in the Sunday Night slot, even though Tampa-Denver was available.

Bu, bu, but it's the Cowboys??

Nah, this is perfect for NBC. You have an imploding city of Philadelphia, against Amurica's team, what's not to love? Even Seahawks-Bears would be better, just so I can watch them both tear each other to shreds, and have it end in a tie on national television.

Since the New Orleans-Denver game was on NBC, I'm pretty sure that Fox gets to broadcast the Tampa Bay-Denver game, since CBS and Fox are guaranteed at least one game in every stadium each season.

This post is for Bucfan:

Dude, how pumped are you for this team? I really like the way they've been playing, and Atlanta will be a test that I think the Bucs could pull one out.

I'm very excited about how the Bucs have been playing this season. It started out kind of rough, but they've been playing better every week. Last week's come back was awesome because I showed that they can overcome adversity and stay calm and collected, which is something they NEVER did under Morris and rarely did under Gruden. Josh Freeman is really looking like he's going to be the quarterback Tampa hoped he would be. It's finally fun to be a Buccaneers fan again! :)

Behold: the Cleveland Browns, to thwart the terrible towel, will be handing out....

...white flags.
