NHL Jersey Tweaks

It seems like most of the teams in the NHL are just slight tweaks away from having better uniforms. Here are a few that I've done:

The Flames jersey is worse off. There is a color imbalance with a white logo and predominantly black striping. Never mind that the awful piping is still there.

The Ducks jersey looks strange with the lack of teal on the bottom of the jersey, in comparison to the teal on the sleeves.

I suppose the Stars would be an upgrade for many others, but for me personally I dislike green being used less than black. I find it works much better with a predominantly green jersey, with black as a secondary. The return of the logo is always welcome though.

The Sabres is a lateral move in my opinion. While the addition of white isn't really needed, it definitely doesn't look bad. I suppose the elimination of the piping/pit stains would be the key problem to fix in this case.

The Penguins is an improvement. The addition of the Gold really makes the (awful) template pop.

I'm not a fan of the Sharks tweak, solely due to the template and distribution of colours on the jersey. The Teal/Black/Silver worked much better when used more prominently, where currently the orange works because there is so little of it on the jersey.

The Panthers is a strange one for me, because when they first unveiled the jerseys, this is exactly the fix I had in mind, but I suppose the jersey grew on me, and I find that the white isn't really needed.

Finally the Lightning. No problems with the update you've got here, given what you have to work with. My only critique would to bring the hemstripe more in line with the striping on the arms.

While these are improvements over each current set, the difference is only marginal and there is still a lot wrong with several of them. Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Calgary still use weak Edge templates; Dallas still under-utilizes green; and Tampa Bay still has a crappy clipart logo.

I agree with all of this.

I would also add a black outline to the Lightning logo.

Thanks guys. I'll mess with it a little more this weekend, and I'll see what I can do.

Here's my second attempt:

NHLtweak2.jpg

Calgary: Eliminate all the elements that make that jersey ugly, and make the hem line match the sleeves.

Ducks: not much to improve on.

Stars: add matching hem stripes.

Sabres: you fixed what was wrong with them.

Penguins: kill the template and use the template the islanders used after the edge conversion. It was more suited for the pens than it ever was for the islanders.

Sharks: you pretty much tweaked what was wrong with their set.

Panthers: add a matching hem stripe.

Lightning: not bad but i would kill the generic clip art logo they use now and use the old modernized logo they had.

Wild: Eh, not much i can see for improvement.

Sens: the only one in this set that isn't working for me and could use a redesign.

Canucks: YES!

Rangers:not much to say on.

Flames: Scrap it and start over. The Flames are not simply one "tweak" away from an attractive looking set. Nothing in the current set is working from the tacky flags to the 20 thousand types of striping...

Ducks: Not feeling it. The current striping has never looked good in the old scheme though I suppose the logo you used makes it an improvement.

Stars: I could live with it... Though the absense of hem stripes and the presence of the dread Ree-Box hurt the design.

Sabres: Eliminate the white between the gold stripes and your good.

Penguins: Great colours, awful template.

Sharks: Perfect. Exactly what their primary home uniform should look like

Panthers: Big improvement. The white adds so much.

Tampa Bay Lightning: Pretty much perfect. Some silver in the logo would be nice but no real complaints.

Wild: Fantastic. This is exactly how their home jersey should look

Sens: Not feeling the old "Sens" template or the logo.

Canucks: Looks good but it is in no way an improvement over what's currently being worn.

Rangers: Nice throwback to the 1994 cup uniforms.
