Billy B
I'm pleasantly surprised after seeing the full unveil. I was expecting these to just be boring which some people still think they are. Instead, I think they made traditional work without being boring. Still disappointed that the shooting star isn't there, but I accepted that they weren't bringing that back a while ago. I think the orange hat should be the full-time home hat with the blue hat with orange bill being worn on the road. The all navy hat isn't really necessary in my opinion. LMU
How does this in any way resemble a tiger? The road uniforms reflect the name better because they actually use orange on the road. They play in a ballpark modeled after a turn of the last century train station. There's no way in God's green earth that they'd look right wearing a modern, gaudy mess with a train carrying oranges behind left field.Aren't they tweaking the interior of the park and getting rid of the train?Well, that's just a silly argument but I'll play along. OK then, tell me how this in any way represents mountains. Are mountains purple and black?"Purple mountains' majesty"?Remind me again how these guys...look like they're portraying one of these guys?I'm pretty sure the shape of the front panel on these hats was supposed to somewhat reflect that goofy hat that high-up priests wear.Except that THIS is the padre/friar that the team is named after. And, in terms of the Astros, the name is Greek for Stars, so by having a star as a logo, voila! TornadoGTS
Is there a logo slick showing the entire numeral set? Facebook: CustomSportsCovers Twitter: CSCovers Quote No because when the Irish came to Ireland and first came in contact with the leprechaun people, they didn't take their land away and force them to move west. Instead, the two groups learned to assimilate peacefully. However, certain tribes of the leprechaun refused to taint the pure blood and moved north into the forests of Ireland, only to be seen rarely, usually at the same time of a rainbows appearance and occasionally at the factories of Lucky Charms. phutmasterflex
I think the orange cap goes nicely with the home uniform:The way I see it, the solid navy cap is not needed. The orange goes well with the home and presumably will look fine with the orange tops. Since the undershirt for the road grays will be orange, the orange bill/navy crown cap is a nice balance to it. The same can be said for the BP jerseys. I just don't see in any combination where the solid navy would look fit. It can work, but I don't think it's needed. Go A's! You mean Archbishops? The two are not the same thing. I know you're not the religious sort, but at least spend a few moments on Wikipedia at the very least to learn the proper terminology. So you don't look ill-informed on the topic you're posting about. Also I doubt the front panel on the Padres' throwback cap is meant to reflect an Archbishop's hat. As LMU pointed out, the Padres were named after friars. Not Priests or Bishops or Archbishops. IceCap
I guess the twenty teens are the decade of orange.I'm not sure about that. The Orioles and Giants have always used orange, so them deciding to emphasise it doesn't seem like they're following a trend. Orange was an Astros colour for thirty years, and it was bound to be featured in any new Astros set that looked to return to the team's roots. Again, the team using it has a history with it, so I don't see a trend. The only MLB team that now uses orange that previously did not would be Miami. Which works, given that it's Florida. shaydre1019
Solid set. Dunno which cap I want to get but I definitely want one.Idk why everyone complains about roundel logos. Idk about you guys but I never associate baseball teams with their primary logos. When I think Yankees I think NY logo, not Yankee doodle dandy logo. And that goes for pretty much every team. They never use them on score bugs or tickers. If you had random people draw a teams primary logo, I promise 99% would draw the cap logo. So my advice to you everyone complaining about the roundel..try not to lose sleep over it.I will say this though, I'm not really digging the star not fitting inside the orange ring. I like the bevel. There I said it. Bravo Astros, you may not play good, but at least you'll look good, and that's half the battle.
Wally1912
Also I doubt the front panel on the Padres' throwback cap is meant to reflect an Archbishop's hat. As LMU pointed out, the Padres were named after friars. Not Priests or Bishops or Archbishops.Look here for the meaning of the bell shape on the Padres cap.The San Diego Padres "Taco Bell" CapsFirst off, why are they called “taco bell” caps? Well, take a look at the yellow front panel of the cap. Modern-day remakes of these caps make it simply in the shape of a triangle, which is very inaccurate. If you look at the original caps straight on, the front panel is in the shape of a bell. Why a bell? It has to do with the California Missions...Long story short, the Padres team is named after the padres (Spanish for “fathers”) of the missions, and the missions all had bells. The taco bell nickname comes from the Taco Bell restaurant logo of the 80s which had basically the same colors as the Padres.
FiddySicks
For as much as I absolutely HATE this new set, I can at least admit that the Orange cap looks decent with the home uniform set. If the Astros were to use the orange cap as their primary with matching orange batting helmets than I'd at least be ok with their look because its be at least somewhat unique. But of course, they're not going to do that and they'll just use the s****y solid navy cap most of the time and be the most forgettable looking team in the league. The Mojo Maniac
The primary home look should be the one perfectly modeled by Jose Altuve as the "Saturday" look: orange cap and undershirt with white jersey. For Monday through Thursday home games, they had better wear navy undershirts to match the navy caps. The solid navy cap goes fine with the orange alt, but I would rather they be smarter than the Marlins and actually wear the orange cap and jersey together. The navy cap is what needs to be worn on the road (with navy undershirt, of course) and with the BP/Sunday alt jersey.I don't get why so many people are saying the navy cap is unnecessary. If anything, the navy crown/orange bill cap is the unnecessary one. It just looks awkward with the road grays (even with orange undershirts) and the solid navy cap should be the one paired with the BP/Sunday alt. Plus, the fact that they couldn't make the squatchee orange just makes it the scourge of the set. From San Berdoo to Kalamazoo.
