I thought it was created as an on-field cap to match the brayzers the Rays wore when traveling.Yes, you are correct. It was not available to the public until after it was worn on the field. So...it has no rhyme or reason to it.The Arizona series was red because they went from spring training, where they have always only wore red, to Arizona and didn't have the navy caps with them as the voting was done late. They then wore them in Philly, but went from there to Washington, another red cap team, but wore the red caps for that series.
