EDIT: A's promotional schedule is out http://oakland.athle...ns.jsp?c_id=oak

On July 27, they're going with 1969 throwbacks

Pardon my ignorance, but that graphic almost looks like the "apostrophe s" on the jersey has tape over it. Is there a story there?

Notice that the images on that site are made from cutouts (like South Park) and that they're attempt to cover up some parts weren't done well. Image is accurate, just poor graphics

Go A's!

Exactly. These accepted standard images for baseball uniform history were hand-drawn by Mark Okkonen more than 20 years ago. He must have initially made them with the "A's" insignia, then later realized that was in error.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

As per ColorWerx's comment on the new BP caps, I can 100% confirm that they are surprising. Maybe Definitely too surprising for my liking.

I hope the Dodgers are one of those surprising teams...hoping for a return of the white crowned bp caps like they had in 1999

I hate them for reasons three:

1. because baseball is a sport where already very little color is shown and the cap is one of the only places where a splash of color is present. Baseball uniforms don't need more white.

2. White hats are present among lower levels of baseball and as such have adopted an amateur association. White hats are very common in college and youth baseball, but I don't feel like they fit in with the major league aesthetic.

3. The "milkman effect"

I like white hats in some instances, not all.

1) It's a classic look, reminiscent of the early 20's century.

2) While baseball hats are one of the few places on uniforms that have color, they are all too often in the team's darkest color for the hell of it. White caps every now and then brighten things up a little and provide a little more contrast.

3) It looks incredible when paired with a vest, particularly when the pants are hiked up. It just looks right to have a vest, short pants, and a hat all in white with the socks, sleeves and the brim all in the same color.

While I think a white cap would be weak as a primary cap in today's day and age, I do like the look. However, as always, don't bother unless you're going to make matching batting helmets.

I have to agree with all of this. Well said, Roman. There's a lot of teams that would look nice with a white alternate hat and vest.

Along the same lines as the white caps do you have the same feelings about grey crown caps? Anyone like one but not the other. I happen to like both and although I'm not advocating an additional cap for the Mets I think one would look great with the new road alt.

I personally like them, although when they were worn in the late 90s they worked better for some than others. I'm not too sure I liked the Royals' one, but the short-lived Orioles one was a bright spot of that otherwise horrible identity, and I think that Pirates one would have looked great if they had just ditched the pinstripes.

That being said, I know it's mere speculation but I don't think a gray crowned cap would look good at all with the new Mets road alt. Yes, white crowned caps can look sharp at home even with a solid colored alt jersey, but for some reason it's not the same with a gray crown/colored alt on the road. IMO, gray crowned caps must only be worn with gray jerseys.

From San Berdoo to Kalamazoo.

I want my silver bill/compass Mariners back! Maybe a return to the A's elephant sporting shades? A new bell-shaped panel design for the Padres? Please God no more ridiculous and pointless piping.

I was with you until this part. I think white or gray caps MUST be worn with matching jerseys. That's the whole appeal of them. When worn with alternate jerseys, they look out of place, like the equipment manager packed the wrong caps for the game.

It seems like you can't say much yet, but if you can say this much, which ones were the most surprising? What teams are we gonna see that are really similar, and which ones went way out there?

Or, which ones were your favorite/least favorite?
