Island_Style
im dropping it because this is stupid but the dude didnt create the thing, man.So what? I am sure the Dolphins knew what they were getting when they got the damn thing. It is Florida..FLORIDA!! MIAMI!!! SOUTH BEACH!!!! I dont see why it would be hard to draw a Dolphin going THROUGH a hoop in the 60's. It isn't going through for a reason. Get that, dude?
Island_Style
Notice how the fire at the bottom of the loop goes up. Up, not down. Fire doesn't burn like in the dolphin logo. It doesn't shoot out like that. It does with a sunburst. I swear..............

swilson160
I don't really have an opinion on the sun/ring of fire question, although I did think it was a ring of fire when I was a kid,However, for those arguing that it is a sun because the dolphin is in front of it and not going through, remember that on the original (used for the first eight years), the dolphin only crossed over the bottom of the circle and the front/head was more or less centered in the circle but did not overlap the circle at all. So it is not at all clear whether it is in front or going through the circle. The dolphin only began crossing the circle twice when it was tweaked in 1974.Who knows if the person who did the revision was the original artist? Perhaps the original artist intended it to be a ring of fire, and when it was tweaked, they decided to make it a sunburst instead...or they just didn't really think all that much about it. Heck, maybe they all assumed incorrectly that it was intended to be a sun. Logo design and management seems to have been much looser in those days; that the decision-makers in 1974 didn't know what the ring was supposed to be originally isn't out of the realm of possibility. MDGP
In Island_Style's defense, BrandMooreArt should never have called his mother a... What? This is all about a logo?? Jeez... I've got a dribbble, check it out if you like my stuff; alternatively, if you hate my stuff, send it to your enemies to punish their insolence! Lee Noire
When I see the new logo I see a sun. I also think it will be tilted on the helmet and apparel so that the dolphin appears to be jumping up in front of it. Not casually swimming past it like someone else posted earlier. No one will really know until the unveiling though.Unless our new friend Sneaker Pimp makes a return.
Claystation360
I could see it going either way. I've thought to be both a Ring of fire when I was younger and Sun when I've gotten older. Only thing I can say is the Dolphin has a major case of the derp of he is supposed to being going through "ring of fire" which TD hasn't done in any incarnation since 1966. #DTWD #GoJaguars

IceCap
This is like if someone insisted for pages that the old Atlanta Hawks logo was really Pac-Man because that's what he saw as a kid. It's a sun. Seems fairly obvious. Seems fairly obvious.Totally, it's exactly like that, except that it isn't.Dolphins jump in the sun. They are also trained to jump through rings of fire. So both make sense in the context of dolphins, even if you think one is more likely than the other.Pac-Man has nothing to do with hawks. Zero. Nada. Zip. Sport
It's a sun.Why would a football team want a ring of fire on their helmets? They play in Miami and you can represent a dolphin without a ring of fire, but it's a lot harder to represent Miami without a big bright sun.
