Any guesses for where some of the big free agents will sign?

My bold pick for Josh Hamilton... The White Sox. I haven't read any hot stove reports really yet, but I think the ChiSox are close to being a very legitimate World Series contender and I think they might think Hamilton could be the bat that pushes them over the top.

As for my Nats, I think either Morse or LaRoche will go. If we can't/don't re-sign LaRoche I could see moving Morse to 1st Base and signing a CF. If LaRoche stays I could see trading Morse for either an OF or another piece, while signing a free agent OF. I'm thinking one of the Upton brothers. The Nats have always flirted with the Rays about BJ Upton it seems, I could see us signing him and moving Harper to LF. And it appears Arizona may be trying to trade Justin so possibly the Natties could package together something for him (Morse, Espinosa, Detwiler?) maybe.

The Sox are old and faced with either keeping players who will only get older or losing them and not really having the prospects to rise up or the money to spend in free agency. Then again, the White Sox cry poor every chance they get and still magically find the money to sign a bunch of veterans, so who knows.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

No. You have to realize that the Hamilton's will make the decision which God tells them. That's code for the team with the biggest contract, so they can tithe more to their church.

Now, MIL could be a player since their hitting coach is Johnny Narron, who was Hamilton's accountability partner for five seasons in CIN and TEX.

The latest I heard regarding the Nats is that they are looking for a leadoff man and veteran pitching (either a SP, RP, or both). I believe that they will re-sign LaRoche, but I don't expect him to replicate his performance next year. However, I think they will let Edwin Jackson and Chien-Ming Wang go instead of signing them to new deals.

Also, I never heard the Nats referred to as the "Natties" before since it conveys to me a cheap college student's preferred beer of choice (regular Natural or Natural Ice).

I don't think there is a regular Natural, isn't there only Natty Light and Natty Ice? But yeah it's what I sometime call the Nats, idk why.

They definitely need bullpen help. It was solid in the regular season but not so much in the playoffs. And Jackson is replaceable so I'm all good with letting him walk.

Yeah, I heard Milwaukee also. Which is pretty odd when you remember all the times they let their studs walk because they couldn't afford them. I think the ChiSox might offer the biggest contract because they might feel they need to upgrade their bats to hang around with the Tigers power bats. A big superstar to compete with their superstars. I definitely don't think Hamilton is going to the usual suspects (Boston, NYY, LA, re-sign with Tex) I think it's going to be a bit of a surprise no matter who it is.

Tigers made few moves today. GM Dumbrowski had press conference earlier.

Leyland is back for one more year.

Peralta and Dotel coming back.

Valverde and Delmon Young will not be back.

They will try to sign Anibal Sanchez.

Mind not set on Gerald Laird.

The Reds had 6 Gold Glove finalists, won 0 awards. Fitting end to a crappy October.

Jimmy Rollins at shortstop is this year's Derek Jeter, Brandon Phillips got robbed at second base, and I could make a great case for Jay Bruce and Drew Stubbs.

I hate sports.

I'd hardly say that Phillips got robbed at second base. Barney had an amazing year with the stats to back it up. You don't take out a guy that's won multiple Gold Gloves in a year unless you clearly had a better season.

The White Sox signed Jake Peavy to a 2-year extension, $14.5 mil a year. They declined his $20 mil option and will pay his $4mil buyout between 2016-2019. Oh, and Peavy won a Gold Glove a few hours later.

The Sox also picked up a $9.5 mil club option on Gavin Floyd. I wouldn't be surprised to see them move Floyd though, as they have six capable starters now and Floyd will be in demand at $9.5 mil as an innings-eater who shows flashes of brilliance and normally goes on a 1-2 month streak where he is one of the best pitchers in baseball. I have to think they'd be able to get something decent from the Milwaukees and Torontos of the world.

How can you say you think Barney is a lock for the award one second, then go on to say that Phillips got shafted 5 seconds later?

Mike Trout and Brendan Ryan really got :censored:ed over, but whatever. I can understand why Ryan got screwed, as most "best defensive player" awards have really turned into best two way player awards, but there's no excuse for not picking Trout. He had less errors than Jones, a better fielding percentage, and probably more "web gems".

Why didn't Brandon Crawford get any Gold Glove consideration? I don't think there's an infielder in the league who makes the plays he does on a regular basis.

He's a terriffic infielder and is going to be one of the Giants best for a long time, but he committed quite a few errors at the beginning of the season.
