BigBubba 788 Posted January 2, 2013 Let's be honest though, it's the Spengler Cup.With the 4 AM start times (9 AM for the Russia game), I haven't been able to watch much, but I like what I've seen out of Canada. Drouin has impressed me so far, and he's definitely someone I'd like to see the Leafs draft.
Don 7 Posted January 2, 2013 USA beat the stuffing out of the Czech Republic 7-0 to set up a rematch with Canada in the semifinals. Woo!
OMMF 120 Posted January 3, 2013 For those in the US without the NHL Network, Bostonbruins.com will be streaming the Canada v US game at 4et/1pt.
NEW.ERA 159 Posted January 3, 2013 Canada is gonna need another miracle, down 4-0 after 2 periods. Johnny Gaudreau <3 Flames might have a gem in him.
sportstar1212 447 Posted January 3, 2013 Really disappointed in Canada's game today. Going into the game, I really thought they had this.

Sport 14,126 Posted January 3, 2013 USA v. Sweden for the championship. My two favorite hockey nations going at it.
IceCap 22,331 Posted January 3, 2013 Gah, that was terrible. Oh well.
Breakwood 63 Posted January 3, 2013 Poor Switzerland. Every game they lost in the tournament was in either OT or a shootout. Its great to see another country join the elite.
Billy B 154 Posted January 3, 2013 I'm happy I stayed up to watch that one. Bring on Sweden!
twi 380 Posted January 3, 2013 Lol. When used correctly I think that's the best .gif on the Internet. I don't think anything that happens in this tournament should be too surprising, these are all teenagers afterall. I know I was far from consistent when I was 18!
Funky Bunky 162 Posted January 4, 2013 America is going to win the Gold, because John Gibson is a beast...... look who's about to be right.

Still MIGHTY 3,834 Posted January 4, 2013 America is going to win the Gold, because John Gibson is a beast...... look who's about to be right. John Gibson is indeed a beast. And a Duck!I can't wait for this kid.----Surprising to see Canada AND Russia go down. Another Bronze medal matchup for these two, and one hockey body will be mighty pissed. Canada for being mad at not winning gold every time, and Russia for their performance on home ice.-----USA going for the gold. God it's so nice to watch a little live meaningful rooting-interest hockey.

Brandon Saad of the Hawks is out of Pittsburgh as well.

ElwoodCuse 187 Posted January 5, 2013 Pittsburgh (well, western PA) has a lot of dudes both in this tournament and in youngster hockey in general. And it's only going to get better as time goes by from the Crosby effect. Hockey there has come a long way real fast from Ryan Malone being the first to make it to the NHL.And to anyone who ever complains about the NHL's southern expansion, I think the players from California, Florida, and Texas on this team speak for themselves. Hockey IS growing demographically in the US (James Mirtle wrote a really good column about this) and that's a very good thing. Also I hope Don Cherry lives to see the day that Canada is as irrelevant to hockey as England is to soccer.
