See, they should've gone with something like these from the start instead of emphasizing black. I was surprised to find that some strongly prefer their current look to their old one, as the change screamed "BFBS" and "Trying too hard to look cool" to me when it happened. While I like the webbed D logo, I never thought it was strong enough to be a primary logo. As a secondary logo though, it's top-notch. As for the Mighty Ducks logo, is it it cartoony? Yes, but so are a lot of other logos throughout the world of sports, including some beloved/historic logos. It's a classic logo, one that is recognized by a much larger group of people than the webbed D, and should definitely be brought back.

(Btw, I'm a Penguins/Ducks/Sharks fan. Ain't that a contradiction? :P )

Tradition is the foundation of innovation, and not the enemy.

The WHL does the half year jersey thing. Dark at home until the Christmas break and then white at home until the end of the season.

I like it and I could see the NHL doing it to compromise.

The NHL did this already. For the 75th anniversary season teams wore white for the first half of the season and dark for the second half.

Is that actually how it worked? I've been trying to get a definitive answer and gettyimages seems to disagree with the first half/second half theory

Sorry I didn't reply to this earlier as I was out of town, but yes, that's how it worked. I think the "second half" started after the All Star break if I remember correctly.

Montreal @ San Jose, 2/28/92, Sharks in teal:

Right, see what I mean? Looking through photo archives it seems it switched back and forth, randomly, throughout the season

does anyone know when authentic versions of the new jerseys are coming out online to purchase, ie dallas. all i found are the premiere jerseys, but would prefer an authentic. sorry if this is out of place, ive been primarily a "lurker".

also, i would totally get a ducks jersey with the old logo and "new" color scheme.

Most specialty sweaters are screwed over by the time that it's made available to the public. The sweaters on ice are used on edge templates but the ones in the stores are usually "CCM Vintage" and have a few things off about it.

And I don't know why, but I just can't buy the Ducks in orange.

No sense in jumping from mimicking one PA team to the other. Go get a unique color scheme, or ya know, go back to the original one that you started with.

Yeah, it's not like a team in Anaheim has a reason to wear orange! :upside:

Again I will put forth the argument that hunter green would suit the ducks quite nicely, perhaps even in conjunction with a more copper-y gold color.

In other words, look like a duck.

They've had both Gold and Orange ever since the rebrand.

Curious, what would you guys think a possible Black and Jade color scheme for the Ducks?

Well, it's not like real Maple Leaves are blue or real Sharks are teal... at least there are real Ducks that have black and/or gold feathers (and the vast majority have orange feet). They look duck enough to me.

Lee, stop. You're making far too much sense.

Quick n dirty Paint job. ignore the logos and whatnot, I'm at work and using Paint, and frankly can't be assed to make sure all the trims are the right shades, but this gives a basic idea of how they could look.

Whatever that :censored: color is that's supposed to be in place of the gold, I don't like it.

I'd like the idea of a darker green, but I don't think we'll get there. At least no time soon.

It looks like the Ducks got Cleve-jacked.

Ah, I understand. I thought you meant the photo archives were showing whites at home for the whole season. Please excuse my dumbness.

I know the dates at Getty can be wonky, especially for older pics. I did find this article on the Google News archive (scroll to bottom for the relevant part):

http://www.nytimes.com/1992/01/17/sports/hockey-move-over-messier-broten-is-leading-the-way.html

The game was the last time the Rangers will wear white shirts at home this season. Following the All-Star Game break, they'll wear their blue road jerseys here in observation of yet another of the league's strange directives to all its teams as it celebrates its 75th anniversary.
