College Football 2013 Season

Whatever happened to Arizona State's Yellow Jersey? Have they ever worn it?

They haven't had one under the pitchfork branding.

I was attending ASU when they switched, and I loved Sparky. I still love Sparky. But the pitchfork is a badass mark, IMO. I love both of them. I think they both have their place.

And as far as the Pac-12 Champions picture, yeah, there was a reason I didn't post that one haha. I mean, I get Coach Graham's reasoning and it's obviously been a great motivator for the Sun Devils this year, but maybe that's something you keep in the locker room. No need to tweet that out.

The pitchfork is perfect for them. Sparky is awesome, but you can have him as a secondary mark. Pitchfork is great. Also, there best looks are G/M/G and M/W/M in my opinion, also they do a blackout as well as anyone. My only problem with an otherwise very nice uniform is how "ASU" is on the sleeves. Looks so unprofessional to me

I really like the pitchfork and I was a pretty big fan when they first unveiled it, but I've been disappointed with how they've used it.

IMO it could be like Florida State's spear, but they keep changing helmet colors, leaving it off one side of the helmet (one of the more annoying trends in college football), and they aren't letting it develop any brand consistency.

What they should do is wear only a yellow helmet with the maroon fork on both sides and don't touch it for about ten years and reevaluate where they are then. I think by that time they'd have a very recognizable helmet with a very recognizable logo and they wouldn't want to change or wear anything different. The problem is college football teams now take pride in how many different combinations they wear when they really should be doing the exact opposite.

If they could bring back sparky on the helmets I'd be all for that as well.

I agree with everything that's not bold. The pitchfork makes some sense but they dilute their look by having a million uniform combinations and by using black (a non-school color). The pitchfork into what was essentially their old look would have been great. Instead they just look like a different team every week. The gold/maroon/gold look is nice...but at home (I assume it was at home), you see the above photo of white/black/black. That looks like two totally different teams and the latter does not say "ASU" to me.

The more these teams dress so we talk about their apparel manufacturers, the less they look like they are actually representing their schools (and establishing a "brand").

As for the bold, I like sparky as a mascot. But I also like Bucky Badger, Goldy Gopher, Alabama's elephant, and the various tigers/lions/wildcats. But they don't look good on helmets. Kansas's Jayhawk looks awful on their helmets and I always thought Sparky on the helmet brought down ASU's look tremendously. Of course this is all my opinion and I know most people like mascots on helmets.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

Speaking of ASU, I just picked this up for my dad for Christmas. It's a south division champs shirt, but notice how the word South division is kinda crammed in at the last second and is pretty hard to see (it's better on the gold shirts, but point remains). I sent a pic to my mom to show her and she responded, "Don't they actually have to win first?". It's a south division champs shirt, and we did win the PAC 12 South, but they're definitely doing all they can to play up the championship theme before the game is even played.

Move the "PAC 12" up, put south divison under it.

I LOVE the Pitchfork look for ASU, I loved the set when it was unveiled. They've kinda screwed it up a bit this year, with the "fire" helmet and this:

I'm generally against big one-side logos with numbers on the other, Boise has done it and even VT did it too. It looks terrible IMO. The only team that can really pull of numbers on the helmets is Alabama.

i always hear people complain about uniforms looking "cheap". but i think thats how a uniform looks best. boston colleges unis circa doug flutie era look like old dish rags with numbers taped on but they looked so rugged and i just think thats what a football uniform should look like

Louisville is wearing metallic decals tonight with what looks like a thick solid red stripe.

Has cincinattis uniforms always had silver numbers outlines in white?

i believe they changed to that for this season. no idea why
