Needschat
THANKS OBAMATry again. He didn't shut the government down, it was House Speaker John Boehner.And..Why isn't the NCAA picking up the tab for the service academy sports? They have the money to do so!!!Depending on how long the shutdown goes on, would the service academies' football (and other) teams end up forfeiting games to their opponents until funding is reinstated?Seems to me that if a professional team couldn't play due to lack of money, that's what would happen. I'm just wondering. In the pros, the league would pick up the tab. Why can't the NCAA do the same? What's keeping them from doing the "right thing" and paying the expenses? Oh what could have been.... Jigga
Dare I say... Saban to USC?Saban isn't leaving Bama. Ever.Just like he wasn't going to be the Alabama coach, right? :-pSave all the adamant declarations and "no chance he's leaving" pontifications for ALL of these coaches, man. We'll see what happens when them good ol' boys down Texas way start throwing around eight figure salary numbers. Beyond what Saban does/doesn't do, there are going to be some interesting moves this silly season. I look forward to all of the "GREAT HIRE" posts. Alabama matches them. Next question. The state of Alabama will bankrupt itself to keep Saban.I can't say I disagree with y'all, but I just think it's foolhardy for anyone to scream down from on high, at this point, about how some guy who has a little vagabond in him is now home with the doors locked, fingers in his ears and shouting, "La, la, la...I can't hear you...la, la, la!" Forgive me for not buying the whole, "Well, looky here. Ol' Nick Saban seen the light. He dun gone and found himself cured by the Crimson Jesus. Salvation! Giving thanks and praises to God, Alabama and the Bear! Roll Tide!" thing yet. On January 16, 2013 at 3:49 PM, NJTank said: Btw this is old hat for Notre Dame. Not trying to derail the subject, though.I'll be the first one to say it, but Ohio St. is going down Saturday Night, they're defense has looked a bit slippy at times, at least they will certainly be tested. I'd watch out if I were Stanford too, Washington has looked awesome this year and upset Stanford last year.

dfwabel
Texas@ Iowa State indicates that Mack Brown needs to resign or take the AD position. It also indicates that even a NCAA coach needs to get it right with a QB and Mack's mantra of signing the best in-state HS Junior commits has backfired at the QB slot. In 2008, he signed Gatorade POY in Garrett Gilbert as a HS junior and lost out on every other kid as a 5-Star kid does not want to sit behind two other 5-star guys. rams80
There's no way in hell Brown will be allowed to become the AD now. I'd guess that would be Step 3 (Profit).Right before Step 4 (blackmail and extortion; see USC sanctions).Apparently, that United offer to fly the Air Force team for free went untouched for several reasons.1- It was a good gesture, but a possible NCAA violation since someone accepted payment for free travel. 2- United knew that Air Force had a charter contract with Northwest, now flying as Delta for the last seven years. And as usual, we have Pac-12 officiating in the SLC.
