This one looks like something out of a Tom and Jerry cartoon.

It's really about the facial expressions with these.

The flirty animals for UC Davis and Colorado, The creeper for Centenary. The sadness in what I assume is Muhlenberg and Georgia Tech. The Tamalpais Ram that's mad you walked in on it naked. The deranged Wofford Terrier.

And dammit, if that Poet is from Whittier they need the anxious facepalming poet on their helmets just once.

It's actually Colorado Mines the Orediggers, his name is Blaster the Burro.

But yes, expressions are key in the vintage logos. It's something that makes them kid-friendly and aggressive all at once.

Donald! I've always loved the fact that they used Donald Duck as the mascot there.

wasn't there a tutorial in this thread on what programs are used to modernize the old logos? I'd like to try it myself, instead of asking.

I am sore, wounded, but not slain

I will lay down and bleed a while

And then rise up to fight again

That doesn’t  look like a banana slug

UCSBC isn't UC Santa Cruz (the Banana Slugs).

UCSBC was the University of California Santa Barbara College (which is now UCSB, the Gauchos)

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

They actually have a deal in place with Disney to be able to use Donald.

They did at one point....but I thought that deal ended.

EDIT: They did, back in 2010

That's only them agreeing to say that the costumed sideline mascot is not Donald.  They still have a deal for all the mascot logos  From the article:

Quote

The UO/Disney licensing agreement remains in effect for the printed logos on sweat shirts and the like.

They also rolled out a fauxback in 2014 I believe with Donald on the helmets and sleeves.
