Gothamite 24,695 Posted February 2, 2013 That patch should replace the decapitated-Johnny they wear now. Would look great on the shoulders.Maybe put it on the homes as well, and then they could take the goofy city name off their chests.
powersurge 65 Posted February 3, 2013 While I appreciate the history of the logo, I simply don't think it works. It seems more like an early comp that never should have made it through to the final cut.

Just switch Agency for an old-timey font and they should be set.
Bayne 1,127 Posted February 3, 2013 If you take away the history and nostalgia factor, it's a pretty basic design. I almost hate it, but I might as well try to tolerate it seeing as how this team just loves to churn out new looks all the time.

I almost hate it, but I might as well try to tolerate it seeing as how this team just loves to churn out new looks all the time.Actually, not counting the alternates, the Canucks haven't changed their looks too often. The original stick-in-rink jerseys lasted eight years. The two V jerseys lasted eleven. The black/gold striped jerseys lasted eight. The first orca jerseys lasted ten. The current jerseys are going on six years. They're not the Blackhawks or Canadiens, but five uniforms in ~45 years isn't that bad.
Bayne 1,127 Posted February 3, 2013 Doesn't help that they're all so drastically different.I know not every team gets to have to continuity in their aesthetic from day one, but something a little less all-over-the-place would be nice.

They've been all over the place during those 45 years.

randyc 359 Posted March 1, 2013 Here's a picture from the Canucks instagram showing the back of the jersey, with an announcement to come today.http://instagram.com/p/WUsDTytOP_/Same number font as the current jerseys, with a different font for the names.
Brendan 16 Posted March 1, 2013 http://Instagr.am/p/WUzhgQtOH7/From this photo it looks like a different font. Hansen numbers is clearly a different font.

They've been all over the place during those 45 years. The Kings basically did the same thing.Somehow it just doesn't feel the same at all. You can argue that since 1988 the Kings essentially had the same basic colors: black and silver, with the addition of purple along the way. Despite the fact they changed their logos at different points along the way there was always a crown or king utilized.Vancouver was truly all over the place: blue and green with a rink and stick; yellow, black, red with a 'V', then a skate; that was followed by an Orca in navy, maroon, and silver...then a mish mosh of the first and last look. It just seems to lack any kind of continuity. They need to stick to something (a color set or a theme or both) and run with it for a while.
Corvus 386 Posted March 2, 2013 I'd say the Kings have gone through just as many logos, if not more. On the Vancouver side, I view this Millionaire's retro night as a "we can't host a Winter Classic so here's an old school jersey night" kind of thing.
Kevin W. 1,989 Posted March 2, 2013 I'd say the Kings have gone through just as many logos, if not more.More. If you don't count color changes, the Canucks have had three primary logos. The Kings have had six.
Bayne 1,127 Posted March 2, 2013 I don't like the Millionaires jerseys. We'll see how they look on the ice.

hockey week 989 Posted March 2, 2013 (edited) they have a very modern font on a very vintage jersey. Sure, it looks fine with a 7, but the 3s are going to be awfuledit: nevermind, I was told it was the Canucks' normal font for the numbers. Clearly that isn't so Edited March 2, 2013 by hockey week
the admiral 29,167 Posted March 2, 2013 Next they should honor the Seattle Metropolitans and all get a really bad flu.
