And I know one person from there, he's a Cubs fan for what it's worth.

Most of the UP gets Green Bay TV stations and supports the Packers in football, but the Detroit teams in all other sports. Though the Red Wings are clearly favored over the Tigers and (especially) the Pistons. The exceptions tend to be the Chicago transplants, who tend to be Cubs/Bears/Blackhawks fans.

At least that's my anecdotal assertion as someone with Yoopers up and down my family tree.

No way. If the peninsula ever secedes from Michigan, it'll be to start its own state called Superior. Though I agree that if the peninsula should belong to any state, that state should be Wisconsin.
