I think there needs to be a little tinkering with the Gen 6 Restrictor Plate package, but there were signs of some really good racing towards the end. I don't think it really needs a major change as I think everyone was being conservative this time around, just maybe a few things here and there once we find out how they run at Talladega. Otherwise, I'm really liking these new cars so far and I can't wait to see them on the normal tracks these next few weeks

I've been impressed with the racing so far, I like the Gen 6 cars. Do they need a little work? Yeah they do, nothing's perfect. Onto Phoenix to see what happens next.

The bigger spoiler will definitely make the cars more racier I believe. We'll see a difference at the so called "boring" tracks like California. Or we can at least hope.

The spoiler creates more downforce which is essential at 1.5 and shorter tracks. That'll make those tracks much more exciting since the downforce helps the cars turn faster.

I've been reading on Twitter and other social media that people thought the 500 was boring. It was the first race with the Gen 6 car. Yes, NASCAR will do more tinkering with the plate car before Talledega. The true test is when it gets to California and the cookie cutter 1.5 mile tracks.

Change in the format for the All Star Race

The format for the 2013 Sprint All-Star race has changed a bit. There will be four 20 lap segments followed by a final 10 lap segment for a total of 90 laps. Teams will have one mandatory 4-tire pit stop between segment 4 and 5. The final segment lineup is based on average finish in first four segments. The winner earns $1 million AND if a driver wins ALL five segments, that driver will win an additional $1 million

Sounds like a good way to try to dominate, especially for an extra Million. Plus, its not the debacle that happened last year. I like it.

Hey if it was Jr it wouldn't have surprised me. I'm not a NASCAR fan by any stretch of the imagination, and haven't been since Sr. hit the wall on the final turn at Daytona. Because of his dad, I guess I'd say that Jr. was my favorite, but I'm the most casual of observers. I don't even have a "fan card" to turn in. But I got to go to the race with my parents and my cousin who's basically a brother to me who absolutely loves NASCAR. I don't get to see them that much so going to my first race with them was really special.

I mainly was happy to see Danica crash because I was basically screaming the Cartman lines at her car all race. Nothing against her as a woman, but it was pretty funny to playfully rib her team all day and then see her crash (Plus, who doesn't like a crash at a NASCAR race?).

I gotta say, before today I thought NASCAR was just a bunch of dumb rednecks driving in circles, but I found a totally new appreciation for it. That was one of the best sporting events I've been to in awhile. I'm even starting to brainstorm a trip to Talledega at the end of the season. If Phoenix was this fun, I can't even imagine that place.

It wasn't a typical NASCAR crash. Didn't you see the SAFER barrier flex - doing its job? She hit it head on, then bounced back into the path of another competitor who was at FULL song. Ragan's car almost went OVER Patrick's car. Yeah, really laughable moment.

Perhaps it's because I understand the physics of crashes, the g-forces she had, then the secondary hit in the driver's side from Ragan who was at 140+. There was a real chance of injury, but you thought it was funny.

I am NOT your typical NASCAR fan: I'm from the North, college educated, Roman Catholic, and Polish, you know, sort of like Alan Kulwicki.,

Well, I will admit that I didn't see the crash from the best angle because I was sitting right at the end of the previous turn. And I do understand the potential for injury when it comes to crashes. My favorite driver died in a crash that didn't seem all that severe at the time. But as a NASCAR driver, you know the risks of the sport, and you embrace that from the very beginning. I NEVER advocate anyone getting hurt (except for Tim Tebow, I do cheer for that pretty hard ), but it's all part of the sport in which one chose to do.

I get very skeptical of so called fans when they cheer for someone's accident when it's not a good looking one. I was at the track when Adam Petty crashed and died. I hate, HATE, when people cheer for a driver's accident.
