Rumor - Mariners going to creme colored unis?

Actually the Rangers' numbers look great. The Mariners alt and original Diamondbacks numbers as well as the current Brewers are horrible. They look way too tacky and amateur or minor league-ish. Custom or non-standard block numbers can work though, such as the Rangers, Cubs, Angels, Pirates, Astros, Blue Jays and in some opinions the Phillies. And I guess Red Sox, those were once actually a standard font across the league a long time ago.

The Rangers by the way, manage to make basic MLB block look tacky, so custom number fonts and tackiness are not mutually exclusive.

The Texas Rangers don't use "basic MLB block" numbers - they have a customized version with little thorns or spurs or whatever on them:

Prince+Fielder+Philadelphia+Phillies+v+T

But yes, they're tacky. Every bit as silly-looking as the numbers on that Mariners alternate.

Teal billed caps/helmets for all uniforms (home whites, teal alts & occasional navy alt) worn at home. All-navy caps/helmets worn for all uniforms on the road (road grays, navy alt & possibly occasional teal alt). That's the perfect Mariners look, with of course the navy alt matching up to the rest of the uniform set with either gray or teal piping (1999 Seattle navy alt had gray, but honestly either color could probably work).

Another possible amendment to this would be the teal crowned/navy billed caps being brought back as a home Sunday cap worn with the home whites. But even without it, they'd be one of the top looking teams in baseball.

Here's a visual. http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/87298-mlb-tweaks-and-concepts/page-4#entry2239514

(Sorry for the shameless plug)

to make matters worse when they go the red route they are basically knocking off the angels.

That's basically my "ideal" for the M's, but perhaps with a few minor tweaks: 1) silver piping would look better than teal piping on the navy alt. 2) Teal is a lighter alt color that should never be worn on the road. 3) not a huge fan of the teal-crowned alt cap paired with the home whites, but I might be able to live with it. It would be a real treat to see that cap return at all.

Maybe that silver-billed alt cap with the navy alt jersey? :)

And just to weigh in on the cream controversy...no. Please God no. There is no reason to muck up yet another already solid identity in MLB.

From San Berdoo to Kalamazoo.

Hope hey add a cream alternate with a navy blue and teal emphasis.

The yellow and royal look like a little league team or a third world baseball league.

What the hell is a "third world baseball league"?
A baseball league from a third world country

Where the Mariners 1970's and 1980's logos / uniforms deserve to go.

I know we all like picking on Phantom dreamer from time to time, but that was unneeded.

I just don't think a creme colored uniform would look right for the Mariners. All the places where creme has worked have been on teams that have a warm accent color, like the Giants, Indians, even the Diamondbacks had a copper accent. The Mariners color scheme is cool, and that just seems like it would with the creme base.

I hope the Mariners stand pat. They look great as they are. One of the best in baseball IMO.

This jersey is a thing of beauty.

You ain't kidding. I went to my first M's game last night and they were wearing the teal jerseys. They looked downright classy.
