MDGP
Dammit Blackhawks. Listen: when I have you penned in to lose, you are supposed to LOSE. Damn this hope.Whose side are you on?As an irrational subscriber to Reverse Jinxes as well, I can totally decipher and understand the POV of what ole' Andy is really saying here.Actually, that's not what he's doing at all.Correct. This is what we call severe pessimism. I've got a dribbble, check it out if you like my stuff; alternatively, if you hate my stuff, send it to your enemies to punish their insolence! Billy B
Reading this thread during tonight's game it's like the Blackhawks and Bruins fan bases are locked in a struggle for who can be the most pessimistic.Fans of these teams shouldn't be allowed to post during the game. Most of the posts are hilarious if you're reading just ten minutes behind what's happening. And I said the same thing about this being a great series unless you're a fan of one of the teams involved. Overtime hockey is great for an impartial viewer, but it takes a lot out of you watching it with an interest in either of the teams.

infrared41
Reading this thread during tonight's game it's like the Blackhawks and Bruins fan bases are locked in a struggle for who can be the most pessimistic.True, but isn't that the case with most fan bases? As much as we all want our teams to get there, once they do, it's more like torture than it is fun. Take Ohio State in 2002 for example. I don't think I enjoyed a single minute of the NCG while I was watching it.

He is used to Chicago being really great at blowing championship opportunities, which is deep seeded in Chicago sports history. Now, despite the fact that Chicago has been relatively rich in championships since the 90's, he grew up in an environment in which pessimism was the way to deal with the heart crushing losses season after season until it became second nature and he was never able to get used to the idea of having confidence in his teams to not choke. If I'm wrong, I can change some words around so it describes me (I developed this form of pessimism at a very young age.)Edit: CS, is it wrong for me to imagine that your computer hardrive houses nothing but millions and millions of gifs? I have intensely high expectations from the teams I root for, so when they routinely find ways to make life difficult for themselves, it wounds me pretty deeply. It's just how I deal with the game unfolding as it happens. I typically don't like what I see.Good teams don't score 5 goals yet still need overtime. The Blackhawks survived tonight, but need to assert their will and dictate the pace. Boston's been doing that since the 2nd period of game 2, and I don't understand why it takes the brink of death to get a pulse out of this Blackhawks team sometimes. My pessimism in-game is natural, and I feel like almost all of us feel this way when our teams play in big games. I just happen to vocalize it more than others. TheOldRoman
What was Oduya thinking... Winning the puck finally and then giving it right back to Jagr? That's pretty much what Oduya does. He's a good defenseman most of the time, but like clockwork you can count on him for one horrific turnover per game, usually resulting in a goal. Stampman
So far so good for how I want to see this pan out (For the most part)--game 7 is a very real possibility--and we've had 3 OTs alreadyExciting hocky overall.now for another pair of one goal games (Hopefully with OT) and the game 7 goes into OT with the winnign goal scored in the second half of the first OT.Either team can win it--I'm fine with that. FiddySicks
It's funny, I thought all of this "Anyone who thinks this wont be a great series is an idiot!" Talk was a bit drastic, but damn, I guess I'm an idiot. What an amazing series. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) FiddySicks
Sure it's been pretty sloppy, but three OT's in four games? It's pretty hard to beat that. When was the last time in a SCF that's happened? Brass
Seidenberg, you ing piece of ! He was direclty responsible for FOUR goals tonight. If I'm Julien, Seidenberg sees nothing but the parking lot for the rest of the series. What a ing dumbass. We'd better be seeing Bartowski in the place of Seidenberg.Seriously? You're going to attack Seidenberg for having one bad game? Without him, the Bruins are golfing right now and still waiting for their first Stanley Cup since 1972.Grow up. NJTank
I heard it said on TV that if the Bruins and Blackhawks played 100 times they would each win 50 games.
