Rite of Spring 2013 (NHL Playoffs): "You have no fear of the underdog, that's why you will not survive."

Well, just my opinion, but more games were played during NHL seasons while WORLD WAR 2 was going on than this season, so yeah, this Cup gets an asterisk.*

This is why we need a dislike button!

Really. If you want to mention WWII on us, then all those Habs titles get *'s because the French Canadian players wanted no part in helping the Allies cause.

I've been holding my tongue for this whole postseason, but I've watched as many games I could, not just Kings games. And at the very least the Kings lost to the champions. No shame in that. Man, this Final was amazing. I know I'm biased in that I thought last years was the best I've seen, but when taking off my homer glasses, this Final was amazing and probably the best I've ever seen. Two great teams, evenly matched, fighting for the Cup. It's a pity that there had to be a winner the games were so good.

Congratulations to all of the Blackhawks fans here! You guys thoroughly deserved it. The best team the whole season, and played at its absolute best when they needed it the most.

And congratulations to the Bruins fans. It sucks to lose in the Final, but you guys as well, had a great season.

FYI, this still stands: NHL Playoffs > NBA Playoffs.

I can't wait for next season! Go Kings Go!

Cowboys - Lakers - LAFC - USMNT - LA Rams - LA Kings - NUFC

Goodness, what a finish, what a series, what a year. All the credit in the world to the Bruins. They were the worthiest foe anyone could have, and they run a great organization (except for Jeremy Jacobs, who is a piece of crap and should not have gotten to touch the Cup in this lockout season). I hope everyone else enjoyed the series. I think it could go down as one of the best. Great thread here, again. Hockey brings out the best in posting.

I shall go to the parade on Friday and scream my lungs out.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

The TSN panel said it best. I can't remember the exact words but they were to the effect of, "Earlier this year we were outside the NHL offices talking about HRR and now we just had an original six Finals after a great season".

And remember all those internet and facebook "fans" saying they will never affiliate themselves with the NHL because of the lockout. I wonder where they are now?

The Lt. Colonel Admiral speaks! Thank goodness. We were getting a little worried about you. B)

I know it was special circumstances and all, but I REALLY enjoyed the shortened and condensed regular season this year. It was quick and to the point, and there was a game on nearly every other night. It'll never happen, and God forbid another lockout, but I think a 48 game regular season from January to June would be a great, and would help bring in more casual fans. The regular season feels dragged out and basically pointless as it is, so why not?

I'm sure most wont agree, and there will be valid points made against this, but did anyone else find this year's schedule to be as enjoyable as I did?

No, it was exhausting and led to a lot of dead-ass hockey after too many back-to-backs and three-in-fours. Let's not do this again.

Oh yeah and hey Toronto I hope you enjoyed the ending. It all evens out in the end, doesn't it.

:)

So how do Vancouver fans feel about this? Do they like seeing the team who beat them in 2011 lose? Or are they puking out lungs and cutting their wrists with dirty razors at the thought of another Chicago cup victory?

Yes, I loved it, but like the admiral pointed out, there were some things about it that weren't so great. It will never happen, but I'd love to see the NHL and NBA shorten their regular seasons to something in the 60 game range. As long as it's not crammed into three months, it would be a big improvement - in my opinion anyway.

Admiral is right that it was too condensed. The I think it was a really good season overall and an excellent playoffs. The one thing I did like (as a one-time thing) was no interconference games. There was something cool about the Hawks facing a Bruins team they hadn't faced before. Both conference crowned their champions (who were also the best teams) and they faced off as if from two separate leagues, like baseball pre-1997. I don't know if I'd ever want to return to it, but at least for this year, it was cool.

Parade route is still in the works, but the rally will be in the softball fields in the south end of Grant Park, as opposed to the Petrillo Bandshell where the Bulls held their rallies.
