The Clippers unis would be perfect without sleeves. If I was a player, I'd cut them off and refuse to wear them.

No you wouldn't.

How do you know, bro?

Because the NBA won't allow you to play with mismatching uniform

Great, I'd accept the fine or demand a trade. I'd rather that than look like an amateur basketball team.

I dont see taking the sleeves off the same as having mismatched unis

Its no different than a player wearing an undershirt under their sleeve less jerseys

I don't even think Nike would want a league wide contract. They'd want the handful of premier teams and that's it. Personally, I'd love it if the NBA went back to multiple suppliers like the old days.

Unfortunately, that will never happen again. The NBA, like the other major sports, will want a league wide deal. The NFL has Nike, The NHL and the CFL have Reebok. MLB has Majestic Apparel. The NBA will only want a league wide deal, and right now they are with Adidas. Hopefully, when their contract expires it will change, but it won't be multiple suppliers like it used to be.

I'm sure you're right, but one can still hope! I wouldn't be surprised at all if UA makes a play when the Adidas contract is up. Would be interesting to see if they can improve things. I've owned a lot of NBA gear throughout the years regardless of brand and without a doubt Addias has been the worst, especially the last few years.

Do you think altering a game-issued uniform is something the league would be OK about?

Undershirts, headbands, etc are equipment accessories. That's different from the actual uniform. It's about branding and I doubt the NBA would be OK with you altering their brand

This is ridiculous. When Reebok had the NFL deal, there was an outpouring of "get rid of Reebok, go to Nike or someone else!" Then they get Nike, and there's an outpouring (maybe by the same people, maybe by others) of "Nike sucks! How much longer is this contract?"

Then in the NBA, people hate Nike, then hate adidas, then people will hate UA, etc. etc. etc.

The manufacturers come and go. The teams and league is the only constant. Blame them - not adidas.

Did adidas have the idea for the sleeves? Sure. It's been documented (I think) that they presented the idea to the league. But unless that contract says that adidas has the final say (which even without seeing it I can guarantee that it doesn't), the league and teams still have to OK all of this stuff.

adidas designers may come up with different ideas than Nike designers, but at the end of the day it's the client who dictates the direction of the project. I just don't understand anyone complaining about a manufacturer at the pro level (I wouldn't be surprised if college deals were different and that the manufacturer did have more of a say there.)

"The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed."

As of now, we are only in the early stages of the sleeve jerseys. Pretty soon, this will spread to college, then the designs will flow, creative or not. These will turn into college football-like uniforms

It's already spread to College:

I don't expect any Nike schools to do it, though. This is adidas's thing.

My wish for the NBA: End its contract with Adidas after the 2016-17 season (the final year that they can end it). Go back to Nike, or heck even Under Armour. Anything but Adidas. FIrst they went to those weird Revolution 30 fabric outfits they did three years ago (I can't stand them). Now they are installing short sleeved jerseys (I don't think this was the NBA's idea, it is the manufacturer). And now, possibly in the near future, the horrible designed shorts. Are you kidding me? At least Nike won't go to that extreme.

With Stern gone (he was probably the brainchild of getting Adidas to the NBA), maybe Silver will finally have some guts and switch to the "Swoosh" brand four years from now. I just can't wait for 2017, maybe will finally see something better.

Hard to believe until 2010, Adidas made some fantastic NBA jerseys. Not anymore.

reebok won the exclusive contract then adidas acquired reebok which allowed them to swap labels

See, I don't have nearly as much of a problem with the college sleeved unis. Sure, the Zubaz print sucks, but at least the shoulder hoops make them look somewhat like regular jerseys.

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

Didn't see anything about this, but is Washington getting an alt? They're due for one. I created a rough image in Photoshop of what an alternate Wizards uniform would look like, and it looked insanely cool (same template as the home and road, but with navy main portion, red band, and white shoulders).

Wonder if the Nets will end up getting an alt next year. Tough to figure out how it would turn out, seeing as how they only use two colors, but I'm sure they'd figure out some way to make it different from the regular road via striping pattern/arrangement. I hope that such an alt would end up looking snazzy, unlike their ultra plain sets now, which I can't say I'm much of a fan of.

Pretty pissed that the Pistons' Motor City jerseys weren't red. I really wonder why they stopped using red alts in the first place. Hell, maybe they could keep the Motor City uni blue and just add back their previous red alt. If the Clippers, Blazers, Lakers, and Heat have multiple alts, why not Detroit?

Players could just roll the sleeves up into their jerseys instead of cutting them off.

I have no doubt that the league has a rule ready to prohibit the players from doing that. After all, we can't have them hurting the blatant cash grab, now can we?

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

Unlike the past few seasons, it appears that the NBA hasn’t announced what teams will be celebrating Hardwood Classics Nights. I've done a little digging and found that the Magic are wearing their '89-'98 black pinstriped jerseys this season, but that's it. Has anyone heard of any other teams participating, and if so, what eras will they be going back to? Thank you.

Honestly the sleeves dont bother me, its still a sweet looking jersey. The one thing I wish they would do now is change the script of the red road jersey back to saying "Clippers" instead of "Los Angeles" because now they have 3 jerseys that say Los Angeles and one that says clippers

and because I loved the previous road set before the update

edit: apparently these shooting shirts will accompany the back in blue nights

What's the point of a shooting shirt if your jersey has sleeves?!

The Magic might as well bring back those 89-98 unis full time.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

There is one way I could see the sleeved basketball jerseys mothballed forever. Lets say a big name player such as Lebron James, Kevin Durant or Blake Griffin has a bad game or two in the sleeves and says something. There's no way they continue to sport those if their biggest name players feel like it affects their game.
