Sports Graphics Packages, Historically

Recommended Posts

I'd need to see how it's used for other teams before I make a statement, but I'm glad they're still using the logos.

On a side note, why is there an aqua line above the Eagles' bar? I assume that's where the team's secondary color appears (with the Patriots in red), why not use black or silver?

FOX better upgrade theirs too. It's the absolute worst. Complete and total lack of imagination. It's lazy. Looks like what you would find on your local regional sports broadcast of a division III or high school game.

"Hey, Bob. You know those two lines your 4-year-old daughter drew with her crayons last week? Yeah.... let's send that to the graphics department and use it for ALL our sports ball telecasts in 2017." <_<

All that italic/skewing feels a little dated to me. I thought we moved past lazily skewing stuff to connote speed and action like ten years ago.

I know hope it just for the pregame but I do like the scorebug can't wait to see it for the NHL but I like the Olympic graphic better

Using Madden images insteadvof real players images during stat box layouts on the field feels like a step backwards. Better off to keep using still photos of the players.

Those better not be from Madden 18 because they look like they're straight from Madden 2003.

Generally speaking, I liked the new NBC package. The angled nature of the scorebar reminded me of the 2003 NFL on FOX package, which I loved, and it had a certain flair that's uniquely NBC/SNF. CBS still has my favorite current NFL package, however.

As a Bay Area baseball fan, I'm curious if our NBC Sports Bay Area/California telecasts will feature a baseball version of the new graphics package, or if they'll stick with the current version (based on the graphics package introduced for Super Bowl 49) for one more season.

I'm sure that's a one-off thing for this Super Bowl. I doubt we'll see NBC go that far for its SNF games next season.

On another note, I'm glad the scoreboard they actually used looks better than the one that leaked earlier this week. At least that dead space in the place for the down and distance has room for special occasion (Kickoff, Thanksgiving, etc.) or "SNF". Also, how about that touchdown animation?

Back to the madden people- what is the need to have them be moving? Does a picture of the player suffice? The madden people don’t even remotely look like the player they are supposed to represent and it’s really just weird...
