Shmee
How about Shaq in a Nets uniforM? I don't think that would happen. Shaq is probably looking to get a trade that has a strong group of players, but where he will get to be "the man." Jason Kidd's enormous popularity among fans might create another KobeShaq situation, which is definitely not what the big guy wants. Starchild
Actually Shmee, I don't think that popularity is really the issue with Shaq going to the Nets...IMO, Shaq to the Nets is a disaster because the Nets thrive off of the running game. The Nets ability to run the opponent out of the building would be destroyed because in order to obtain Shaq Daddy, Mr. Fugazy (Kenyon Martin) would have to be part of the deal - and he's the main beneficiary of Kidd's ridiculous passes. Sure, the Nets would still have Richard Jefferson, but his touches would be greatly diminished with Shaq holding things down in the paint. The Nets would also have to throw in someone like Kerry Kittles, which also hurts the Nets because they're an already weak perimeter shooting team, and Kittles is their only perimeter shooter. Lastly, the team isn't deep. It would be the Lakers all over again. The Nets already aren't a deep enough team - Brian "Ronald McDonald" Scalabrine is not a deep bench. On most deep teams, he's at best a 12th man.The only positive I can see coming from Shaq moving across the Hudson (and eventually to the BK) is that Kenyon Martin will be in a different time zone . Shmee
Starchild is to basketball as I like to convince myself I am to everything else. Deep analysis, strong, well presented opinions and arguments, backed up by specific examples and some well placed adjectives. No rebuttal from me, because I'll readily admit that basketball is by no means my forte. The world's foremost practitioners of professional tag-team wrestling. Thanx for the kind words my good man... but once the NBA season starts up again, you'll grow to hate my arguments... this board's only seen me for the second half of the season . And now, for the tooting my own horn segment of the thread...KNEEL BEFORE ZOD.. err.. STARCHILD!
