Bloomington Thunder "reincarnation?"

Recommended Posts

Bloomington Thunder

The railroad correlation makes sense, I can appreciate the compromise due to legalities, but the logo itself is disappointing (particularly if you're going with the railroad theme, go era-appropriate when Bloomington's railroad prominence was historically significant). And don't get me started on purple/silver/black. Way to conform to a decade-old trend.

The first reports showed a royal blue, black and white version of the logo shown below.

WJBC later showed a version of the logo in the new team colors, which were announced as a "LA Kings Style" purple, black, white.

Later in the afternoon I found of this was on Pantagraph.com and they showed this as the new logo. It would appear that this is the "final" logo of the day.

That logo isn't even suitable for the youth club they named themselves after.

The Thunder will open the SPHL season at home against Peoria on Oct. 25. While the complete schedule is not yet final, a majority of Bloomington home games will be on weekends.

A home preseason game against the Rivermen has been scheduled for Oct. 19, with general admission tickets priced at $7.

"The Thunder's first road contests come against the Rivermen in a back-to-back weekend set in Peoria, followed by a lengthy seven-game home stand against the Peoria Rivermen, leading directly into four solid months of back-and-forth contests with the Peoria Rivermen."

Actually the logo for the youth club, when altered to the new team colors is pretty sharp. (except for the gradient)

Yep, at least the youth logo incorporates more of the "Iron Horse" look of the "Prairie Thunder" that was the old locomotive on the Central Illinois rails.

Well, at least I feel better about the new Rivermen logo now.
