Order of Draft Picks

Second Pick – Cleveland Standards

Third Pick – Boston Checkers

Fourth Pick – Pittsburgh Challengers

Fifth Pick – St. Louis Steamers

Sixth Pick – Cleveland Standards

Seventh Pick – St. Louis Steamers

Eight Pick – St. Louis Steamers

Ninth Pick – St. Louis Steamers

The way the draft works is like this. The league, not the teams themselves, has hired talent scouts. These scouts seek out potential players for the league. Following cut and signing days the league knows how many of the potential players they need to invite to the draft. That number is figured by the amount of roster vacancies plus one. So even at the final pick the teams have a choice between two players.

So for this year there are 9 roster vacancies, so 10 players will be invited to the draft. Those players are:

Bert Grumman from San Diego, California

Carl Andreas from Sydney, Australia

Leo Griffith from Huntington, New York

Max Thomson from Sterling, Illinois

Eugene Gustloff from Chicago, Illinois

Wilhelm Halas from Baltimore, Maryland

George Horkheimer from Birch Hills, Saskatchewan, Canada

Raymond Roth from Boston, Massachusetts

Earl Dam from New York City, New York

LeRoy Mayer from Washington, D.C.
